Thanks A320Flyer.
One of items on my list, yearly pay raises also after the term of the contract, so that there is some penalty on the company if they want to drag out negotiations.

We have the power! Not them! Anyone who believes otherwise is delusional and has no place running for any position.

Ummmm! I think I agree with what you're trying to say there Qotsaautopilot but your delusional if you think that we have the power at any time other than the election cycle.

Under the ALPA Constitution, the line pilots have power TWO, maybe three times:
*Local Representative elections
*Local Repersentative recalls and recall elections
and
*under the SPA MEC Policy Manual, when voting to ratify a contract or accept/decline a Contract change that would substantially affect pay or QOL (paraphrased)

I'm sorry to bust your bubble, but those are the only times (I could be missing one, I've not had my morning coffee) that the line pilots "have the power".

Let's use a recent example for illustration. SPA 109 passed a local resolution this past spring to change the contract negotiators, and to have a vote in the negotiator selection process. In that event, a significant number of Local 109 members showed up at a local meeting, presented their resolutions, debated their resolutions, and subsequently passed their resolutions. Let me ask you this, why is that resolution still sitting on the MEC Chairs desk unimplemented?

I'll tell you why. That SPA 109 resolution carries no weight. NONE. Even if ALL three SPA Local Councils adopt the same resolution, they carry NO weight under the ALPA C&BL's.

Here's what it means…..., and why you see such an effort to sway elections.

LINE PILOTS DELEGATE THEIR POWER TO THEIR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES.

You may think otherwise, but Constitutionally, once we elect a rep he/she has the right to use our vote in any way he/she pleases (except for his/her own position).

Again, the only time you don't delegate your vote to your rep is for his/her election or recall. BTW, your name on a petition is only valid at one time, and that's when it's on a petition to recall your rep.

Where does that leave us? It leaves us in a situation where LOCAL ELECTIONS ARE ESSENTIALLY EVERYTHING! If you doubt that, I need only to show you the attacks being carried out now on certain candidates.

I'll finish with this: No threats, just reality. The ALPA C&BL's give the power to the reps (acting as the Master Council) and the only power the line pilots get if they don't like the way the Rep uses that power is to recall the Rep. Truth.

One thing that I personally feel should drastically be improved are retirement benefits. I have 25 years to go. Within the bounds of reality, what would you guys and gals like to see on the next CBA? 401(k) 9% dollar per dollar is all we currently have.
Ideas?? Examples??
A clearly written, no "grey" language, staffing formula. It'll cost huge, but pay off over our careers. Let's settle it once and for all instead of continued attempts at backdooring the language.

Dump the trip average or increase min day/duty period to 6 hours.

Flatten out the pay scales (industry average between junior and senior Capts implemented linearly, no dips in the curve)

Write Section 25 to include language that will entice NK to be efficient along with the present philosophy of attempting to prevent them from going to far.

Eliminate any "grey" language. Should/could/may/might/maximum extent possible, GONE.

Ensure all terms, such as "red day, green day, snapshot" are defined in the definition section.

Ensure all terms used are used according to their legal vs lay definition (who knew "experience" didn't mean what we lay persons think it means?)

Raise first year pay to at least industry average, and I don't mean the 100 seat and less industry.

Gain circadian rhythm protection. Sequential duty days, whether single of multi day pairings must keep us on the same sleep cycle. No more start at 6 on day one and then switch to a two leg red eye 50 hours later.

time for coffee, later

I appreciate your contribution but I don't think we should be stating on a public forum what we would settle for specifically. Also as far as retirement goes, the new standard is 16% of wages with no matching requirement. Anything less is not standard and should even be on your map.

I say again too: SCOPE!!!!

This just in: Our negotiators are in Miramar as we speak modifying the contract to assist the company in 117 compliance. Really? We get to vote on that right?

Anybody know where to find the transition conflict formula? I did a quick search on APC but couldn't find it anywhere.

It's spelled out pretty specifically, with examples, in the contract.

But the crib notes are: you can't work more than six straight, they have to honor the four days off IF THEY MAKE THE SCHEDULE - if you bid yourself one day off you did it to yourself, the only real way to get have a conflict is if it's a true FAR conflict (in my experience, they don't accept/honor contract conflicts other than the six days on rule) Maybe Capt Scott will weigh in, he's got better info on it than I do.
