I will give you that perhaps talking about the... errrr... mx practices of other pilots... I guess I could have saved that. Than again, may be idiots do not deserve to be saved. They will get the Darwin award eventually.
So how do you fix the problem? What do you do to fix the problem? I am not fighting you but seriously, what do you do? I have sent my share of e-mails, ASAPs, and Safety Reports over the years. Most the time you end up with a retarded reply. After a while you stop sending them.
I hate myself complaining. But what do you want me to do when I walk into another filthy cockpit? What should I say? "Look at this cockpit dude!... It is filthy. Sweet! Yay! Upgrade is 2.5 years!"
IT is a disaster. Should I be happy about that? It has been a disaster ever since I have been here. I can't do basic stuff. E-mails are overflowing all the time. Sweet isn't it? Meanwhile I am doing video conference with my nieces and nephews who are on the other side of the Atlantic. It is the 21st century but we still have a size limit on our e-mail boxes. Google gives you what? 2 gig?
CP does not return calls and he does not reply to e-mails. Is that normal? Same goes for HR, Travel Department, ... you name it.
I show up for my trip and my Jepp update is not in my folder. The only reason I knew there was one because my FO told me. I ask the intern she says they ran out. Last time this happened the FAA gave me a letter of warning. They handed out some 30-40 that morning. I end up arguing with her for 5 minutes and she takes a set out from another pilot's V file.
Wow... I guess.... I got to go. So I take it. I do the update and I leave. But WOW.
MX is not really bad. Not at the moment. Planes are not flying with 20 DMIs like they used to. Dealing with MOC is a real problem though, especially when B team's shift is on. Documentation issues are ongoing. Recently we have not even had a major MX related meltdown like the fueling meltdown or the seats meltdown. Were you here for those? Was it fun? Was it something that an intelligent, forward looking, proactive management could have easily avoided? Well... did we avoid those? I guess the fueling issue was being addressed but it was too late. We all had to apologize on every leg for weeks to the passengers. It gets to you.
I dunno bro... I agree it is not fun to fly with someone who is not upbeat. Hard to stay upbeat when you have to spend time questioning the support system that should be in place to help you doing your job.
It is stressful to say the least. Having said that I don't think I am on anyone's no fly. For now...
I ran this one through Word. Hope I get a B- at least.

The legacy that makes the most sense for me (QOL reasons) is United but this chart makes me nervous about making the jump. I'm planning to stick it out here and see where this next contract takes us.

How the heck does southwest do it? They only seat 130 something in their planes, they do short legs, they have very well compensated employees who are at the top of their pay scales, they park their planes overnight, have older planes and still have a casm close to ours!

By the time we get another CBA, you will have another 5 years seniority. Will be much harder to pull the trigger... and that is IF everyone is hiring as expected.

Another CBA better not be another 5 years away.

Furthermore, if you agree with most of my points, than why call me a complainer and a whiner? Criticism, be that in the form of whining even, is one way to bring attention to problems.
This thread is full of whining, b*****ing, complaining, etc. So what the heck? Can I complain about anything at all? You bet I can.
Ok I am done for now. I got my original rant off my chest. I have been home now for some days. I got like 5 days off. I feel great. I will be back to rant more when I feel like.

This chart is interesting. Can you give us the source? Also, I would like to see it next to the yield chart if there is one.

That chart is a great illustration of why many of us choose to work at Spirit over a Legacy. It's easy to see, while times are good, the big money and stability of the big guys. However, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that Spirit can keep the profits even when things go sour again. Less susceptible to the vicious cycle that is aviation and I'm confident Ive made the right choice knowing full well that I could just as easily go to a legacy as anyone. Now if the next contract is a turd, then I'll be off like a prom dress to greener pastures. And also, X2 on how the hell does Southwest do it???

Spirit operates in an undeserved market segment. Many domestic markets still don't offer low cost fares. Add to that, due to the income pyramid, our market segment is the largest to begin with. It is no wonder every new route fills up instantly. There are no guarantees but as far as stability we are looking pretty good.
I think the largest obstacle in the way of our growth will be infrastructure. Nobody wants to give us gates for the prices we can pay in any of our hubs. I think this is why Ben was not all that happy about low fuel prices when he was talking about "capacity discipline". I feel he was banking on a coming economic slowdown, followed by the usual capacity cuts, which in turn could free up gate space in our hubs. I believe a good chunk of the overlap in service created by M&A is still there. But as long everybody is making money nobody is in a rush to park old equipment. I have no idea where we will put all this growth in 2015. IAH had some announcements and we all heard rumors about FLL, MIA but those are unlikely. I duuunnnooo... It will be interesting to see what happens this year.

You initial point was fine, and it was taken by everyone. But then you continued with condescending comments. I am a whiner, a complainer, I have the composition skills of a 5 years old, and some of us need to take some online courses to reach the level of English comprehension of... I don't know... yours? What do you expect?
