It's just sad that they are pushing "customer service" and those with the ability to care and do that, they kick to the curb

I was at DTW last night, didn't seem to be any difference at all. I'm not really sure how much this switch to a private contractor will matter. Not to offend anyone, but gate agents are rarely "career" workers, sure there are some that are there a long time, but I see it as more of a transitory type job, am I wrong?
I believe most of the CSAs will just move over to the private contractors, probably with a little higher pay, maybe a little less benefit.
The thing that bothers me, for an airline that is intent on growth, I would think they would want to grow more than just aircraft and pilots, but the infrastructure as well.

Had a gate agent call scheduling on myself and he CA the other day because we were not at the plane 45 prior.
Hard to support their situation when they are going out of their way to get us in trouble, for something we were not even in the wrong for.
I feel bad for those effected, but that 1 kind of ticked me off.

I was sitting in RSW on Christmas day and one of our agents lost it and started yelling at customers over the loud speaker. I don't think our service level would or could be diminished further

But also, our ridiculous fueling policy wont even allow the FAs to board, when fueling, even if a mechanic is on board to monitor the fueling process. So we show 35 prior, no boarding yet.
Im still amazed how insane that policy is.

Exactly. Thats why I mentioned we were not at fault.

I was just there, I didn't hear anything about gate agents, the ramp was short staffed and we have 6 planes on the ground for 4 gates at one point because two planes were on mx delays.
