Thanks in advance!
If you want the job you will skip the family event and attend the job fair. Why not make it a road trip with them? Kiddo's first birthday in DFW area, pretty cool IMHO.

Is this a joke? Pretty cruel advice. He's already done 2 job fairs. I highly doubt the third one is going to be that one that makes a difference. Family first, always.

1) enjoy your daughter's birthday
2) see #1
3) see #2

Not having a degree is not a deal breaker. It's not required, only preferred. Just about every applicant has one, though, as well as every other 'preferred' requirement, except the A320 type rating.

Good luck.

I've gotta agree here!

As someone who missed over half of his child's birthdays, Christmas', football games and school plays, you'll never get those memories or occasions back. You'll always get another chance to go to a job fair.

Be patient and always remember: someday you'll retire from your job and your coworkers will forget you, you'll never retire from your family and they'll never forget.

Enjoy your daughter's first birthday, it's the only first birthday she gets.

I agree. I wouldn't even think of missing my kids 1st birthday for a scheduled shift let alone a job fair.

Yeah that sounds awesome . Daddy's standing in line for 6+hrs while family is in the hotel waiting to celebrate their child's 1st birthday.... Give me a break man.

Default Job fair?

So I went to two major job fairs this year, WIA and OBAP. Spirit was at neither of them, yet everyone else was. What does this say about that company?

As far as I can tell they only go to Aero Crew Solutions job fairs. You can only get hired if you go to said job fair or strong internal rec/nepotism.

So, is this a scam? Do they have a deal/kickbacks with Aero Crew Solutions and they can't go to any other fair? I have a hard time believing that a company would purposely blow off two of the bigger fairs, especially since OBAP this year was in Miami not far from Spirit's HQ.

Just an observation.

I went to WAI as well, and was a little surprised Spirit wasn't there either.

I wouldn't say a scam, and I don't know the thinking behind not going to WAI, but I would say that by going to the AeroCrew job fairs, they are the only game in town there.

There's a LOT of interest in Spirit, I'm sure there's a great many applications on file, just like every where else. It's a way for a company to winnow the number down to a manageable number.

Two companies offered me a job, the two companies that I went to a job fair for. I've not heard a peep from any other company I had an application in with. I talked to Airways at WAI, but that place is just the luck of the draw. For me, the job fairs worked.

True.

Its like Chris Rock says, "a dad's most important job is to keep his daughter off the pole!!!"

Don't EVER want to miss a daughter's event.
