The fist time I did a normal full flap regular landing was sim 3. In order to check all the boxes, you'll get triple failures in 1 and 2. I remember how fun it was in sim 2 to be in abnormal law, with a hydraulic failure, gear failure, cabin depressurization, no flap landing in Bogota. The training blows, Delta was in the box before us, those guys got 8 sims, and then a checkride from the right seat. Here I was in Miami, middle of the night, from the left seat for 25% of the pay. Do your bank account a huge favor, go to any other airline but here.

Be advised, big discussion yesterday that first years were being told there was lots of extra flights to pick up and lots of extra money around. Looks like that is old news and in the last year vast majority of new hires didn't break out of the 20's. Be sure to plan on getting min of 72hrs pay each month and budget that. There is absolutely NO REASON for a new hire to come to Spirit unless he/she lives in base and wants lots of time off and doesn't care about pay.

I havent heard a thing since I applied in December. I check the website and this is all it shows. I already updated it but it shows no status. Everything went well when I applied with no glitches and it directed me to the online exam at the end which I completed. Anyone know how to get a better status on an application? Thanks!

Yes. Apply to an airline that values new hires and employees in general. Your experience is indicative of what you will see at Spirit Airlines in all areas. Dont say you weren't warned while making 25,000 per year and racking up masssive debt. This process should be your red flag. Speaking of debt; wait until we go on strike and you're without health insurance AND pay for an unknown amount of time. Do your homework before accepting a job here.

Why are you still there?? You guys spent an awful amount of time criticizing everyone who shows any interest in Spirit yet you are still there... Makes no sense to me. If its that awful, quit and get a regional job. Sh*t or get off the pot! If you dont have anything productive answers to pass on to those who have questions, just don't say anything at all. Everyone here is an adult and can make their own decision...

Sometimes people don't have the realities from the outside looking in. The guys talking about $25k first year speak the truth.

Also the less that apply and get hired applies leverage to the company to get a TA on the table. If guys keep showing up nothing gets better. The sooner they have a staffing problem the sooner a deal comes and then guys can apply all day long and we will welcome them with open arms. Applying now hurts us already here but also them because they don't have a good contract to work under when they get hired.

I'm not making 25k a year. Nobody can make an adult decision without the facts. If you can prove anything I said was untrue I'll recant.

Spirit is the best. You'll only have to work 7 or 8 days a month to credit 100+ hours, if you know the system. You can easily make $70K your first year, if you live in base! Jr. Captains are in the area of $200k/year.

Ask any pilot with a black and yellow SPIRIT lanyard, there's a reason they are not wearing the green ones. Especially FLL, those guys and gals have it dialed in. Big boats, exotic cars, and nice houses or condos on the beach are all easily attainable by people who take the time to work the system and bid with bot software (perfectly legal). Several FLL CAs own their own airplanes and one even has a home in the Bahamas! If being a Vegas high roller is more your style, just wait and see what you can do out west.

Crew scheduling usually calls in the morning and you can pick which available trip you would like to fly, you elect to receive Move Up pay or Junior Assignment pay, and you let them know which RSV or trips to drop and pay protect.

Upgrade is around 3 years, and will remain the same for the foreseeable future. There are also lots of opportunities to join the Training Department if you want to make $$$. Just be ready to step-up and take a leadership role, even if it means manning the telephones for HQ during a crisis.

Our management is fantastic. It's the High Five culture, and we even have entertaining videos from our COO and a comedian to highlight employees who go above and beyond to make More Go Happen for our customers. You will get frequent "thanks for everything you do" from executives, recognizing our contributions to make Spirit one of the world's most profitable airlines. Thanks in-part to our efforts, Spirit was recently able to re-invest $100 million dollars in company stock to ensure a return-on-investment for our shareholders.

Sometimes, we are asked to extend our duty day to get the job done. Spirit pilots are always proud to do our part to help our passengers get to where they need to be. Our on-time performance and completion factors are both rising rapidly compared to other airlines...even the legacies.

I think my favorite part about Spirit (other than the pay, QOL, and culture) is flying 182 customers around in a brand new A320 NEO. Did you know that we were the launch customer for North America? It's so amazing that the contrails actually streak rainbows across the sky!

Hope that helps. Try to get to a job fair ASAP, if you want to be called quickly for an interview. There are all kinds of job fairs to promote special interests across the country, and that's where the interviewers are at.

Good Luck!
