This isn't accurate but close. There's an odd 'topless' fetish at Spirit that just can't be explained. Our FOM requires headsets below FL180 but the Airbus is a loud airplane below FL300. A majority will go 'topless' above FL180, turn up the speaker all the way, and miss half the radio calls. A few want to hear after retirement and will use them longer. If you want to continue to wear your headset you can easily hear the other guy or just ignore them. Your call. Standard GA plug in NK buses.

I bring my own 850 active noise canceling, wear them unless in cruise, and have noise canceling earplugs for cruise. 7 years in a turboprop without headset was enough. It just seems most people can’t wait to get hearing loss....

2-3-4 For August bid, most junior captain line holder February 14, Captain July 15, FO May 18.
Currently at 120 planes, my guess is you will upgrade when we hit 210 planes, based on upgrades at 55%, and a few people leaving. The fleet plan is 177 by 2021, so not even close to 3year. Right now the only thing we have is a forward looking statement from management (so no guarantees whatsoever) that they plan to grow at 15%, so 6 year upgrade. Retirements less than 10/year. Most people who leave are in bottom of seniority, so won’t help you upgrading.
Thanks for the info!
So you are saying that the vast majority of attrition is off the bottom of the FO list? CA’s not much attrition?

Im not counting on another order, so with that said attrition would be the only thing driving upgrades beyond 177...

1. Do you use an intercom or just normal talking in the flight deck?

2. Airbus only have airbus headset plugs or will twin GA plugs work?Considering a new headset so 1 and 2 will help me get the right one.

3. Whats Jr ORD Capt lineholder? Curious of the difference between Jr capt and Jr capt lineholder in ORD. Iv been told 3-4 years for CA upgrade for this years new hires, that realistic? (Sorry for the crystal ball question, just want ur opinion)

4. New hires getting ORD out of training or shortly there after?

5.Is there still some decent movement from folks moving onto legacies or big 6? Or has the new contract slowed that down? Are retirements even a factor or is that negligible on movement right now?
In the interest of not spending money unnecessarily, and making an informed decision, wait until you get online to decide about a headset. There are company provided headsets fleet wide.

So get hired first, and good luck.

very little attrition right now, and yes its mostly fos, at 177 the last pilot to upg to captain mathmatically was hired in late 2016 or early 2017...however another order is highly likely

It’s not unreasonable to expect future orders at Spirit.
I get it in regard to career decisions, but...

Default Training questions

How much is pay during training? I hear I can expect to get about $1500 a month for 3 months and also have no insurance until you hit the line.

Is there anything else provided ie meals etc. Put my app in today and hoping to hear something soon but this has me worried.

Any advice is appreciated.

Meals? They don't even provide coffee.
