Spirit Airlines current hiring
#511
Okay, I have to ask...And please don't flame bait me here, this is a legitimate and admittedly ignorant question.
Why are military guys always able to get hired with so much less time? Are their careers valued much more highly than civilian? Or is it because military pilots don't fly as much and therefore it's considering years of service?
This is an honest uneducated question. We don't have this topic where I come from north of the border-everyone is civilian.
Cheers,

Military pilots especially fighters can be in 10 years and not have 2000 total. I can be argued that they have better training and they do more in those 2000 hrs than we do in 5000. Sitting around for 5000 hrs in cruise doesn't add too much value

I think these differences stem from the makeup of management and the pilot group at large. Most of Delta's flight operations management is ex military. Spirit's is nearly all civilian. The pilot groups' demographics follow these trends as well.

Military flight time is just computed differently. Flight time is computed from wheels up to landing. Most military sorties are training in nature, there isn't ever any "dead time" or cruising on a military training flight.
As far as Spirit goes, the 3000TT is a nod towards military flight time conversion. It's less than civilians are required, but still not an outrageous amount. 3000 hours for a military pilot (transport, not fighter) is about right for a career military pilot. I don't think the mins are unfair at all.

This is assuming it was an actual full suit, ATP test, logbook, and panel interview. The job fair doesn't count as an interview. You won't hear back from the job fair unless you are selected to continue with the process. You can go to a job fair as many times as you want.

After your interview, Sandi will call you. What did she tell you when didn't offer a class date to you? Based on your conversation with Sandi will determine what you can do I would think.

Spirit sends TBNT emails to those who dont get hired and the policy is "6 months" before you can reapply. I have known those who have gotten on the second go around, but it isnt likely.
