The ground instructors teaching CSI's is going to arbitration (at least so I've heard). Contract says its flight training and needs to be done by instructors on the list. The company argues that it isn't flight training.

I'm sure a rep could answer more.

Why hasn't this been communicated to the group???!!! Every spirit pilot should know these things. That insulting proposal was more than enough reason to stop playing nice and be taking the company to task on every word of our contract. This CSI issue is a big deal both training wise and staffing wise.

So nice to work at the Mesa of the majors. What have I done?

Equally as important, negotiations wise! You don't have to be a math whiz to figure out their desire to gut the training department of all of those Captains making $180/hr to teach flows and SOP's. Letting them do it without pushback or grieving it is giving up probably the largest leverage we have, just behind the transition language. Thanks JA and the MEC, your letting them have their cake and eat it too.....again!

dn_wisconsin, you've heard it's going to arbitration, I've heard the exact opposite. It would sure be nice to know what's really going on? Remind me, wasn't much of the recall over lack of communication? Hey, at least we had a play by play of his upgrade!

Isn't it the whole purpose of the last email we got from the training department ? As a Spirit pilot, you can bid a ground instructor position, but you have to resign your seniority number. Mmmmh wonder how many will. Even if one of us would do it, they can still consider you, not fitting the shoe.
I am by far not an attorney to analyze every fine prints in the contract, but I think they got us there.

Default Spirit of NKS, Part II

W T F? Just got a notification on my phone that Ben's out as CEO effective immediately.

MIRAMAR, Fla., Jan. 05, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spirit Airlines, Inc. (NASDAQ:SAVE) today announced Robert L. Fornaro has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Fornaro, a seasoned airline executive with more than 35 years of experience in a variety of senior leadership and advisory roles, succeeds Ben Baldanza, who joined Spirit in 2005 as Chief Operating Officer and served as President and CEO since 2006.

"Following the tremendous growth and success of Spirit over the last 10 years, the Board and I have concluded that this is the right time to implement an orderly succession plan," said Baldanza, who recently moved his family to the Washington D.C. area. "Bob is the right choice to lead the Company through its next phase of growth. I want to thank the management team and all our team members for their support and efforts in making Spirit the success that it is today. I am focused on supporting a seamless transition and wish the Company and Bob continued success in the future."

"Bob's deep knowledge of Spirit and his background, skills and operational expertise give the Board full confidence that he is the right leader to deliver on the next phase of Spirit Airlines' growth story," said H. McIntyre Gardner, Spirit's non-executive Chairman. "As a member of Spirit's Board and a veteran of the low-cost airline industry, Bob has been a passionate supporter of Spirit's business model and strategy, and we are pleased to welcome him to the management team at Spirit."

"Ben was instrumental in transitioning Spirit into a highly successful ultra low-cost carrier, a significant achievement in the airline industry, which benefited our employees and customers," added Gardner. "On behalf of the Board and everyone at Spirit, I would like to thank Ben for his contributions, dedication and stewardship these past ten and a half years as Spirit's business model has become firmly established as a critical low-fare choice that consumers appreciate when thinking of air travel. We wish Ben and his family all the best."

"I am honored by the Board's selection and am excited to have the opportunity to lead Spirit," said Fornaro, who will also continue to serve as a member of Spirit's Board. "Spirit's focus will remain delivering a customer-friendly product and providing the lowest total price to the places we fly. I look forward to working with the rest of Spirit's management team and team members to grow the Company's proven ultra low-cost model and drive value for all of Spirit's stockholders."

Even if one gives Ackerman the benefit of the doubt on this one there is absolutely no doubt all of his previous dealings, relief and buddying up with management set precedence for them to exploit other areas in our contract. The damage he's done to this pilot group in less than 1 year is unacceptable.
