Not to put words in his mouth, but generally....

Some of the overseas carriers take relatively new pilots but subject them to 6 months of intensive training programs to prepare them for an eventual check ride.

Most American carriers have gone the other direction and use your prior experience (that they hired you with) to just basically do a "differences" course so your experience coupled with a minimum amount of sims will get you to type rating check ride in around 4 weeks.

This seems to be an on going problem. Many of us don't get the E-mails from the ALPA Survey system and the response we get from the union is make sure your E-mail address is correct with ALPA and check your spam box.

This problem needs to be fixed ASAP but I wouldn't hold my breath.

It seems like a real long shot that I'll get it, but figured I would ask so that I'd have some information to fall back on just in case I end up getting an offer. I'd be super stoked if I got to slide into an opportunity like that.

Thanks for any info or advice you guys can pass along!
The safety interns do quite a bit of important work and you will learn plenty. So if you're looking for low pay and lots of work while learning, it's a good gig.

I think the percentage of guys that don't know about the survey vs the ones that know and don't do it is irrelevant. We have way more people that know about it and refuse to complete them, but yet constantly complain about the contract, company, union, coworkers, and the never ending comparison to other carriers.

Yes I do that, but I also fill out every survey and vote in every election.

The NMB has a long memory, and I think if it comes down to it, Spirit management will already have one strike against them if we go to mediation. The NMB will not be as tolerant of the shenanigans this time, especially seeing the bargaining environment in which we find ourselves.

It is irrelevant to you unless you would like to fill out the survey and find out about it after the survey has already closed. That really sucks knowing that your voice will not be heard.

Instead of surveys why not have base visits by negotiating reps? Engage in actual dialog not a fill in the blank Christmas wish list.

Having the data on a graph via a Computer survey is more valuable than crew room visits IMO.

And shame on anyone who blatantly disregards the survey knowing it's available and takes 15 minutes.
