If you want to see the path we are heading down one can simply look at what happened over at Republic. They are a regional so its a bit different but there are lots of similarities.
Management plays hardball and drags negotiations out as long as possible. People start leaving in droves and eventually they can't find anyone to hire with our garbage outdated contract. They lower minimums and start to offer hiring bonuses to attract new FO's. They start canceling deliveries of new airplanes because they can't staff them. Then they start canceling a handful of flights everyday. Management finally realizes they need to give us a fair contract to retain and attract new pilots but it's already too late. You can't fix a staffing issue overnight with a new contract and once that ball starts rolling it's hard to stop it. It's like deja vu for those who went through it over at Republic.
The burn it down mentality isn't quite here yet but give it a couple more years... It's probably going to get worse before it gets better.

At NK, I think management isn't concerned about containing costs as much as they are hoping to maintain their discount advantage as long as possible.
Maybe someone in the training department can comment but I don't think we are hurting for applicants. In fact the job events are not happening as often as we used to have them. Regional guys just can't give up the hope they can get in here before a big pay raise. Everyone is an optimist and plan their families future hoping for a raise.
When news of the unions opening ask broke regional guys creamed themselves at the possibility of getting on here while they wait for a call from AA. I think we can assume hiring pressure is a long way away.
More pickets, ads, billboards, legal job actions.
The sooner we realize lack of availability of labor from attrition or hiring isn't going to get us out of this mess the sooner we will take aggressive steps to force management to the table.

There are some significant differences between our situation and republics, not the least of which is pricing pressure. UA DL would could have whip sawed republics planes if there was a significant cost (wage) increase.

had a J/S on my flight two nights ago. He had just finished upgrade and Bendo came in at the end and started discussing the Contract. He told the class that because the N/C was asking for "industry Standard" they had nooooooooooo other choice but to go through the contract "Line by line". Just lovely.
Here we are probably still 2 years away and JB F/Os make more than our CAs with their recent LOA and my friends over at Delta are literally cluttering up each others News Feed with what new Boat they are going to buy with their Retro.
HIGH FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Team green, fly the contract, and properly pre-flight your aircraft.

A friend of mine from Canada said the entire world is watching our contract situation. He seemed very displeased with our lack of progress.

Pick up all the JM that you can but make the company RLS an equal number of days. You make more money, they company has the same number of open days down the line, and the next guy makes more coin too. Be smart and be firm. The war has begun. Make them pay.

Totally disagree with you. Investors will care greatly about this, but not sure it will make a huge difference until Wall Street analysts take note and lower share price projections. Once that happens, there will be pressure from the hedge funds and investors that own 98% of the stock.
