I just left Envoy. It's not in the contract. They can cut that **** off anytime they choose. That's IN the contract...

Hey y'all, Spirit new hire and I have a Detroit base for January. Can anyone recommend hotels with a Spirit rate, preferably with a shuttle?

Americas Best Value seems to be the place most crew go to. If you need a crash pad, the Clarion has a few set up for pilots and FA.

During my time in DTW I used the Howard Johnson airport. Crew rate was $36 or so out the door and they had their own shuttle. Not the greatest place but was OK enough 2 to 4 times per month.

This...ABV was where I stayed when I was based there. Great shuttle service, renovated and clean rooms with fridge, free (not so great) breakfast. I think it's $43 out the door and every 10th stay is free.

Does the ABV have better rooms than the Clarion or HoJo?

Thanks

I think the rooms are better at the ABVI than the Clarion and HoJo.

But everybody is free to their opinion.

I have only been averaging 2 occasionally 3 nights max/ month in Dtw all year. The HoJo is now $38 out the door, I just stayed in a renovated room. Plenty adequate with good shuttles and consistent front desk people and a simple breakfast. It's usually what I use for short overnights... early departures to work or home.

If I have back to back trips or have a later, but uncommutable report I'll use the Clarion. It's $50 out the door, but also with good shuttles a good hot breakfast. There is a Speedway gas station in the parking lot with a made to order grill at all hours too. It's definitely $12 better than the HoJo when needed.

Never tried ABV yet....but if you need a cringeworthy experience try the Rodeway Inn... I did that once.

Clarion rates went up about $7 for 2017. Cheap but decent food at the speedway plus the breakfast offsets that by about $5-$10 depending on how long you're there, if you're not super picky about meals. Rooms are ok. While Clarion is still very convenient and to me worth a bit extra, the new higher price is going to make me check out other options next time.

Wow... that sucks, hadn't heard that yet either, I stand corrected about the price, I agree, that will make me check out other options as well.
