Both legacy airlines had fairly simple fleets prior to the merger, the combined airline is as complex as UAL was in 2000. Parking the 400's and canceling the 350 will go a fair way in simplifying our fleet. Parking most of the 756 fleet in the coming years and replacing them with 787/321's will finish the process. We will be down to 4 fleet types.
These bumps are just a bump in the road, not a catastrophe. There is as much opportunity created for some, as there is inconvenience for others. Other than GUM, I doubt any pilot will be forced out of a base involuntarily.

SC. They give them out like candy. The LPV for us has been averaging around 74-75 for lineholders. Doesn't take many SCs to get there. Locals that I fly with LOVE the SC. Rarely used and a free hour for each one after the second.

In practicality when you count in per diem, aggressive SC pickup pays about the same as a standard line.

It is impossible to pick up SC's on all your work days for various reasons. Never seen a person get above 8 total (6 extra hours pay) and the average is usually 3-4. DCA 756 that is. YMMV.

Out of the first 50 747 FO displacements only 1 took the 777 in sfo. Most dudes I fly with say they are going to the 787. With only 2-3 of the 747 flights going to the 787 and the rest going to the 777, I see the 787 being fat and the 777 being short. 787 Capt is going to be really fat. The result of this displacement will also be interesting. I wonder if many looking to play the bumping game will bid LAX 777.
