Iad 777/787

my guess is that this round will go junior for FOs... same thing happened a couple years ago in IAD when the 777 seats opened up... first couple bids went junior and then started going senior. My question is what will happen to the IAD 777 base? Will the new 787 routes to PEK and LHR take away more trips from the 777 base or are they additional? I'm wondering if we will see a 777 displacement in the late Fall dependent on how many FOs bid off the IAD 777 BES this Summer and Fall...
I could see DCA having both 777 and 787 at roughly similar size manpower-wise.

PEK is definitely out for the 777. The one daily trip will be flown by 787. I'm just speculating but I think the 777 will keep NRT because they need the cattle car 777 to do the Guam trip. I suppose Guam could be done by the EWR guys...but I hope we keep it.

I think that will be the case for most 777 guys. They don't like uncertainty so until they say what the fleet plans are...I suspect 787 will go very junior. I'm a bottom dweller so I've got nothing to lose. I'd much rather train in July when the kids schedules are a lot less hectic and I can ship them off to the beach at grandma's house.

It'll be interesting to watch. There is a lot of SFO 787 pilots that commute across the country. Iv flown with a half dozen FOs from FL a few from BOS a few from the Carolinas. Also I don't know what commute is easier but there are a lot of Houston guys in SFO.
It may not go that junior since it's the first East Coast base. But then again what's junior 8000? 9000.......

July training... wow that will be quick... guess with us being overmanned they will let guys/gals go to training early... I understand training is very short (2 weeks)... and then IOE is a 3 day... or something near that. Its definitely a sweet plane... I'd like to fly it someday.

right... they can't build lines until the October bid month... and if you sit reserve out of IAD it will be pretty difficult for them to utilize you. Sounds like a good plan.

Nope! Flying already existences in Base. As soon as pilots activate they can build lines!
8-F Activation Of Assignment
8-F Activation Of Assignment
8-F-1 A Pilot’s date of “activation” shall be the date he begins in a new Category and is set by:
8-F-1-a the beginning of the first segment of his OE in that Category;
or 8-F-1-b the beginning of the first segment of his first trip after training for that Category, if OE is not required;
or 8-F-1-c the first day on which he begins a schedule in that new Category, when no training is required.
or 8-F-1-b the beginning of the first segment of his first trip after training for that Category, if OE is not required;
or 8-F-1-c the first day on which he begins a schedule in that new Category, when no training is required.

You act like you are very confident in your knowledge...but without knowing who you are, I'm gonna assume you're wrong.
