This month was 17 days of reserve, 13 days off, and 1 day of mil leave. During those 17 days, I had 4 unused APU'd SCs, 1 unused APU'd FSB, and 1 APU'd 3-day trip. The rest was long call. I live locally so I don't mind SC at all. End result was 72 hours of credit for 14 hours of flying. Good enough for me, especially on first year pay where really hustling for those extra hours doesn't actually pay that much.

If I’m number 2 on the a320 how long to get back to Dca? is it reasonable to be back when finished with training?

It depends. If you live locally, you might want a Field Standby (FSB). If you commute, you might want to aggressively pick up a trip or a FSB to control your schedule a little then you might get more than the average rsv pilot. If you wait for the crew desk to assign you something then usually only a couple of times but again it would depend on how many unused short calls you have or if you are coming off of a trip and the timing of your availability. If you want to avoid them, you can pick up a short call or a trip if open to avoid them but you may still get tagged for one here or there. With the hiring going on this pace, you will be a lineholder relatively shortly and then problem solved, no more FSB. Without knowing your base and seat hard to give you a great estimate but across the system on the NB fleet a couple of times a month would be about avg for FSB. YMMV
