Not yet. One of my buddies changed his mind and got the J&J in order to be able to get a class date instead of waiting in purgatory. He may not have been alone.

Well that's disappointing. Thanks for the update.

Hi guys,

Just few questions here ...

- If I get assigned the 756, how long to get a line these days?

- how many days off normally a line holder has in avarage?

- Is it possible to drop flights and get days off like at Spirit?

Thanks a lot for the replies!

Cheers

756 has small bases in sfo and lax that haul rubber dogpoo too and from newark and nothing else. Lines there are nearly 737 quick. Other bases are currently under a year

BUT

United has hired more pilots in the past year (nearly 2500) than any year before. They have more probies than pilots in every fleet except 737. The seniority dynamics of 2022 are profoundly weird and will eventually revert to normal.

Days off really varies. 12 to 18. Depends how evil scheduling feels

You can drop trips if the grid is green. Zero contractual protections for how company sets the grid

And how often the “grid is green”?

So, EWR (which is the base I’m choosing) is relatively quick to get a line on the 756?

And thx for your answers buddy!

Does 2 year seat lock apply to moving from 737/320 to 756?

!
Grid varies substantially by month and category. Plan on it being all red.

As for holding a line on the 75 in Newark, looks like when United hires about 2000 under you you can hold one.

Just to clarify what the grid being green is, it means when the number of reserves available on a given day exceeds the number of open pairings that touch that day. It is very rare to see more than a few days at the open of trading (24/1500) for the next month meet that criteria and would be a snowy day in hell when they happen to be in a row to where you could drop a trip, let alone the people senior to you.

We do have the ability to trade trips in a manner to reduce your schedule by trading out of trips with good coverage into bad coverage (bad day/worse day trades). So there is the potential to trade into a 3-day in the near future and out of 2x 3-days later in the month. Just looking at Dec, the most junior lineholders had 13 days off. Junior lineholder for Jan was hired Feb 22.
