It is purely company discretion. There are no contractual provisions controlling it.

How has ALPA never negotiated this? Why do regionals have better work rules than UA? That’s sad

Yeah that’s one thing I feel the culture is clear with United, it’s all about seniority. One day you’ll have seniority (ie, if you’re junior that sucks to be you)

This +1.

The first time I heard I thought it was a joke.
The second time I heard it I thought the guy was just a jerk.
The third time I heard it, it made me sad because it’s clearly institutionalized that senior guys don’t care about making it better for the younger guys—I mean they had a hard start so we should too—right!? /s

do senior people really not realize that having better reserve rules would also help them out because then those CA spots would fill and they wouldn’t be stuck with 90 hour crappy lines every month?

12/13

8x A320 (EWR/ORD/IAH/SFO)
38x B737 (IAH)
4x B756 (SFO)
9x B777 (SFO)

Ultimately not that meaningful since all of these guys can hold something different in the massive vacancy going on right now, if they want to
