The youngest 757 is 19. There are many close-enough replacements. The 756 will be a shrinking category. Shrinking categories don’t lend themselves to seniority progression.

As to when and how (ie what bases) the 756 shrinks… hard to say. Not a this year or next year thing. But id be surprised if anyone hired today sees captain on it… especially not a line.

I have often wondered if the 757s will almost all go way by the end of the decade.

I think that’s the plan

Kind of sidetracking, but can someone help out? I’m trying to plan ahead so, how much should I expect to take home during training and after finishing up IOE based on min guarantee?

You should plan on taking home min guarantee. Breaking guarantee on reserve is hard. Everyone on all fleets is paid $96 a hour for the fist year. Min guarantee is 73 hours.

You can try to VDO (voluntary days off) to make a little more money while on reserve but I've never had success with it.

756 CA Reserve: 6/15 9400
756 CA Lineholder: 1/07 6500
737 CA Lineholder: 6/18 10600
I will add that Junior 756 LO is a outlier due to summer flying. I expect that to trend back senior after summer flying decreases.

Hey I was wondering if you can expand on this. Are these guaranteed trips or a kind of extra reserve day? How much do they pay and how are they awarded out to people? And do they go on top of guarantee?

Thanks

You just change any off days that you would be willing to fly to a VDO and scheduling will call if they need you (you get 50% add pay from the first VDO through the end of the trip). You have no obligation to accept any trips they actually offer or even answer/acknowledge the call if you are in an off day. You'll get one of your regular reserve days removed for every VDO day you are used.
The catch is that the company does not use VDOs often and they are usually short notice.
