You are saying FO’s also have to get NEW medical every six months? If that is the case, then United must be the only airline that requires PIC standards for SIC’s (all airlines require full First Class for relief pilot operations). Yes, most if not all Legacies require First Class, but all allow lapse to 12 months.

That’s exactly what I am saying.

No, they must maintain 1st class privileges which means medicals either every six or twelve months, depending on their age.

The 1st class privileges are required because all fleets fly internationally.

That is not a legal requirement. I know for a fact American and UPS, who fly international, can absolutely let their First class lapse for FO’s. So FO’s over 40 flying international (Caribbean, South America, Bermuda, etc) non augmented flights can absolutely lapse.

FWIW JB had the same requirment of always having a first class medical. Changed sometime in 2011-12 told it had to do with some of the Caribbean cities they flew to.

No. I would have verified it with the company, which I didn't actually need to do anyway since it is in their "Welcome to indoc" literature that I received the next day...

While the Class I/II medical verbiage for 121 ops is in an FAR, United policy is all pilots will be on a Class I.

I happen to have a ton of mileage plus miles, is there a flying benefit to these after getting hired?

No. I've used my FF miles for those outside of my immediate family.
