In all seriousness however, our hiring system if the laughing stock of the airline business. Delta, AA, and SWA are gobbling up allot of superiorly qualified candidates. I hear that they don't have a flight attendant running their hiring system and actually have highly respected pilots involved in their processes with HR only playing a peripheral role. Imagine that, pilots hiring pilots. Who'd a thunk it?

Reminds me of the vendor selling at the ballpark, walking up and down the aisles. . .”Pea-nuts, get your hot fresh roasted nuts here. Grab your nuts before someone else does...Sir, do you need your nuts? Ma’am would you pass this man’s nuts to him. Careful, his nuts are still hot.”

So I take it UA weighs PIC time much less now or is it still strongly preferred?

I remember not long ago when guys were getting their resumes handed back to them at job fairs because they didn't have any TPIC time.

It depends on what the flight attendant in charge of pilot hiring is looking for on any given date. Sadly I view flight attendants as a necessary evil required by federal regulation and as predictable as the average squirrel.

Passengers are worse and I’d rather a flight attendant deal with them than me. Daytime FedEx or UPS would be the dream gig. A big check for very little drama. I’m definitely not one of the guys who will miss this. Until then I’ll just show up, do the job I’m paid to do, and enjoy the life this job provides.

I’m pretty sure the one I’ve been married to for 30 years feels the same way about us!

The director of hiring doesn’t get to choose how many people we hire. You are also insinuating that there is no way for a former FA to be intelligent enough to do a serious job. Also, that person retired. Every one of your posts on this issue highlights a new bias towards groups of people, usually along with a logical error in your argument coupled with outdated information.

Finally, don’t you remember why United had to hire so many people who don’t fit your personal bill to be good at the job? (White, male) they were proven to actively be discriminating. THAT is why you utilize an HR PROFESSIONAL to do hiring, of course guided by line pilots (who mke the decisions)

Are you talking about this one?

EEOC Targets Jobs at United Airlines - latimes

If so, “actively be desciminatiing” might be a bit of a strong term.

AT THAT TIME;

If you’re having to pull candidates from a demographic at TWICE THE RATE, yet are having a hard time finding enough candidates with at least enough experience to been viewed as competitive WITHIN THEIR APP SILO, is that “actively” desciminating?

Courts seemed to think so. Anyway, baseball is wrong in his facts, bad with logic and his posts are sprinkled with pejorative innuendo towards females and minorities. It’s rare that someone advocating their own position proves someone else’s point so readily! Thank you Captain Baseball!

The way the courts decided to rectify the problem wasn’t exactly logical, so the courts can get things wrong also.
