Why not. We did that when we pulled down the 777 and 747’s to put them at the same rate as the 787 and 767-400. Couldn’t have one legacy have a higher payrate for the 747 than the 767-400.

The 747 and 777 paid the same when the merger happened, the 777 and the 767-400 paid the same when the merger happened. See the connection?

Yes but we never paid the 777 down to the 767 like now. And we held back 747 pay to band it with 787.

So you’re saying the 747 should have received it’s own pay scale AFTER the merger when it didn’t have its own BEFORE the merger? The 767-400 paid the same as the 777 BEFORE the merger.

Scott talks United’s future at IAFS

This week, President Scott Kirby joined aviation industry leaders at the 23rd annual Boyd Group International Aviation Forecast Summit (IAFS) in Denver, where approximately 400 airline, airport and aircraft manufacturing executives gathered to analyze future trends in aviation....

During a fireside chat with Michael Boyd, aviation expert and co-founder of Boyd Group International, Scott focused on United’s journey...

Regarding our fleet, he mentioned that starting in 2020, we anticipate retiring the 757 aircraft fleet that was original to United and replacing it with 737 MAX 10s with lie-flat seats in the first class cabin.
Yeah, it’s just the 15 PS airplanes, but it may mean some bumps.

yep...…………dumb too.

maybe something simple is needed.

narrow body pay
medium body pay
wide body pay

Hint.... if it's a heavy, it's a wide body and should pay RIGHT.

We’ve had this contract for a while now. All rates are higher than they were under the concessionary contracts that preceded this contract. Everyone got a raise. Our current rates on the 767 are right in line with Delta and American. If you don’t like it bid off of the thing. My guess is that if it did pay the same as the 777 that most of the people complaining wouldn’t be senior enough to hold it.

And the company buys/allocates airframes to specific routing. Our oldest LUAL 757s are how old?

While I might disagree with a Max 10 doing transcontinental PS, they didn’t ask me nor is there anything in the UPA that prevents it that I know of.

LUAL had some of the oldest 757s in the industry. To see the company go to the Max10 is not a surprise even on a PS configuration.

My 2 cents

Lee

I know, Lee. Those PS jets have been on borrowed time for 3 years. I’ve flown them a few times; not bad...and the wifi actually works!! (Gogo).

Just pointing out that with the loss of 15, and adding 3 (Hawaiian 767s), and a likely protracted new contract...could be the fleet is shrinking or on the way out before we see a new contract (and wide-body pay).

The oldest plane at UAL is LUAL 757 #2. N # 502UA. It was delivered in 1989. It's a PS plane with winglets, non-overwater.
