Not even close. It has just stopped laying those golden eggs. Er, the RR version anyway. When trans Atlantic starts up again, they will be going across before any 777 until traffic picks up. They are paid for, and fuel is cheap.
The shorter range, lighter PW birds may be another story.

The last annual report shows just 5 leased -200s. Makes good sense to use 756s to reestablish some international routes before upgauging back to 787/777. I think among our oldest 756s/777s/320s (>25 years old), some will retire immediately and some will be kept in service until their next heavy checks and then retired for good. I could see others with more service life available being parked temporarily and returned to service as conditions improve. Too many variables to make any pronouncements other than there is no rush to get the MAX anymore.

And by a lot, it's almost the whole 767-300 fleet. There's just a handful remaining to be upgraded and a couple of them are in process now.

My guess is that the 767-300 comes out of storage before the 777 does. It has the range to cover all of Europe and with far fewer seats, it could be the better choice to start building a route up.

More bad news for United! The Summer Olympics have just been moved to Next year. This is the end of the old big airplanes with old FA's.
All these airframes are collateral for the interest only bankruptcy loans that were rolled over in to merger loans. Now, these loans are due to be retired by paying back the principle. Those banks that hold the loans, also were given stock as a guarantee on the loans. Whose stock was just repurchased and put into treasure stock? You guessed it, the banks. Would it surprise you to know that there are 400's out there that are still collateral at $25M that needs paid back.
Make no mistake, United through it's own mismanagement is today in worst shape than the post 911 bankruptcy. Yep, the largest Bankruptcy in the industry.
Fly safe and due the right thing.
