The problem becomes retaining LCPs at the regional level. Unless there is some incentive to get them to stay they are all going to quickly bail at the first offer they get. Delays in IOE have been a common complaint at the aviate partners. In a time of getting job offers from multiple majors, the promise of a job isn't that good of a retention tool.

I'm an Aviate coach and one of my folks has an October class date. Coming over from Air Wisconsin.
I've enjoying mentoring in both military and civilian roles, and figured I might be able to help mold those who will eventually be among our ranks.
For what it's worth, the 5 I'm currently mentoring have fairly extensive aviation backgrounds and seem to be very sharp. Having never flown with them I cannot attest to their stick and rudder, but I have encouraged all of them to explore fun flying outside of work such as glider, taildragger or aerobatic flying - there is no replacement for building that seat-of-the-pants kinesthetic sense short of basic military pilot training.

This situation is what the Aviate program is designed for. A person goes to an approved flight school, instructs there, goes to an approved partner, and goes to UAL once all requirements are met. The sooner a person gets their name on the list, the better.

That is actually one of the more beneficial applicants of the aviate program. It really helps those with no experience or just a ppl. It gets less beneficial once you have your ratings or 121 experience. I think the program is banking on a never ending supply of instructor pilots at the regionals that isn't going to be there. It isn't a perfect program right now but the effort is being put in to expand the program and streamline the process. Once your foot is in the door you do have a leg up.

Hello everyone and thank you for your future responses.
I am currently a freshman at Arizona State University and in their Professional Flight degree major. I have my PPL and am halfway through my training for my instrument rating. My school contracts their flight training out through ATP Flight School at the Mesa-Gateway location (KIWA or AZA). As I am still technically an ATP student (even though not the fast track program as my training is Part 141 and I'll get a 1000hr R-ATP) I was wondering about Aviate.
My biggest questions involve Aviate. Do you think it is good to apply to the program so I get a CJO? or is it more of the "It looks good on paper but in reality, it is really not good." I also will qualify for Delta's Propel college path program, once I am a Junior, as well and the same questions arise.
From my position does anyone also know what the acceptance rate is for getting into each program?

To my understanding, it is a flow-through program to United where they claim it is the “Fastest way to the right seat.” Which is defiantly intriguing. I am not putting all my eggs in this basket but United/Delta are my dream airlines to work for. I am currently a student at ATP through their program with Arizona State University at Mesa-Gateway (KIWA). I am about halfway through my instrument rating so I qualify for the program.
The application is set through Airline Apps and I have heard rumors that it is highly recommended to get an app review by check and set before you apply to the airlines. I am wondering if this is still the case as an app review from them costs $399. As I am also still a college student I don’t have a lot of money to spend but if it is 100% worth it, I will do it since United is one of my dream airlines. Any recommendations?
