That is the reality but it doesn’t affect HIM....therefore he doesn’t give two $hits.

I think that COVID will change the industry, not just United. The fact that the 50 seat fleet is getting old with no real replacement, and also that they are hated by our customers helps our cause. I’d love to see more 737-700/319’s, or even better, new A220’s serving the medium markets while the 50 seaters go away and the smallest markets get the 76 seaters. I’d really love to see the regionals get gutted and the legacy airlines take back flying, but I don’t expect that to happen any time soon on any large scale.
Then we are still taking the Chinese A319's. Those should be available to replace the lost RJ flying....put me in charge!
But, Scott is up!

Well, Kirby has repeatedly said he wants to take advantage of opportunities created by this disaster. Alaska just announced that they will be going back to all Boeing fleet. That means a bunch of very nice, some very new used Airbi will be available. We could take some of those nice A321's and NEO's early to replace the 757 fleet....I'm sure we could get a killer deal on some new 777-9's that have been cancelled by other airlines.

We ran full 50 seaters there forever and the old network planners (now at american) absolutely refused to upgauge anything in florida. The product on a bus or a guppy isn't great but it is light-years ahead of our 50 seat product. We will fill whatever we put on it.

I’d love to see a bunch of 320 series planes show up. One of the reasons that I decided not to upgrade prior to this was not only the small difference in pay for more days and more work, but I decided that 10,000 hours of 737 time is enough. Boeing and Airbus will also be cutting some deals trying to get their production lines going again. The 737 max 10, if we get it, will handle most of what the 757 does, but it’s definitely still just a big 737. The recovery could accelerate the modernization of our fleet through Max deliveries and other aircraft that become a bargain. We could end up taking back flying, or it could just be more of the same. Should be an interesting show either way.
