I absolutely lean/am republican, but before I am able to vote for party objectives, I personally focus on leadership objectives. Even when I try to ignore the the pandemic or his rhetoric - I do not see leadership in his actions, rather I see desperation and reaction. I think (global) consumer confidence is the most important economic metric, and I think the only way this industry / profession will thrive is when the global population feels safe, healthy, and happy.

I will also add that we are in the current predicament because of the lack of leadership and a coherent plan moving forward. So we know that will probably not change because the rhetoric has not changed on the right. Trump is even reportedly contemplating firing Fauci. That is another stupid decision in a long line of stupid decisions. Trump is far from a scientist and is obviously not smart enough to understand what the doctors are telling him.

Absolutely agree. In trumps defense I do think he suffers from narcissistic personality disorder as is doing the best he can.
unfortunately the country is suffering as a result.

The bulk of the management in this country has been at the state level, and not the federal by design. That is how our government was meant to operate. This is also a global issue. Countries all over the world have managed in different ways, and the virus still mostly does what it wants. We praised the EU for being strict with lockdowns while we did nothing, and yet they are getting hit again despite their actions. A virus doesn’t pay attention to borders or politics. We live in a global society, the virus is everywhere, and there is nothing any government entity could do to stop it. Hopefully we can come up with a vaccine to slow the spread, as well as effective therapeutic treatments to reduce the mortality rate. We can no more blame one administration in any country for the number of deaths, than we can claim that another one would have prevented them.

Good write up for you. The way I read it is, that we could have a Clown at the top, providing no leadership, and it wouldn’t matter.

Gotcha.

I’m not a fan of Trump as a person. Not by a long shot, but blaming him for COVID deaths in this country is just a political scapegoat. NY handles it one way—— Trump’s fault, TX goes another way—- Trump’s fault. Trump locks down the borders early—-he’s a racist. He doesn’t call for local lock downs—— he’s irresponsible. Research on a vaccine and treatments is expedited—— he’s either ignoring science or risking the lives of millions. His opposition will attack him regardless of what he does. The virus has proven that it is going to do what it wants. An administration could have been very vocal shouting your personal views and nothing would be different.

If I blindly supported a guy with no ability to provide leadership I would hope that I could come up with an excuse statement like the one above.

Fortunately the pandemic is over tomorrow.

many in this country will need to learn the hard way how bad the economy and country will be under a Biden administration... this guy is a brain dead moron. It’s easy to blame Trump for COVID response... even though the testing, lockdowns, and hospital beds available are all the responsibility of state and local governments. What’s his plan?... double testing (for what), wear masks (how that working), me and longer lockdowns (look at Europe)... some need to learn the hard way I guess.

You are correct that each State has the obligation to govern its sovereign. That’s in the Constitution. I am a Classic Republican and that is a core belief that I have. But there is something to be said about “the buck stops with me”, as Harry Truman famously espoused. That is leadership!!! Trump is ultimately the captain of the airplane!!! In addition, leadership is from the front and by example!!! He is an example of what NOT to do!!! Our COVID policy is a dumpster fire!!!
