Well it looks like this will be undecided for a while and might go to the courts. Regardless of which way you lean in the short-term the uncertainty is bad for the markets.

Even if Biden wins it looks like Senate stays as-is, which would mean little to no stimulus anytime soon. And any stimulus Dems put forward will be contested (watered down). Some could even argue all the airline’s except maybe one avoided furloughs on their own, so no stimulus needed for the industry. Gonna be an interesting 2021 for airline industry, hang on for the ride.

I'd prefer limited or no covid stimulus to a total shift of government. The green new deal has no place for aviation, they could easily let us wither on the vine, or worst case cap us at current levels... 40% pre-covid. While that kind of extremism might well get overturned in 2-4 years due to backlash, the damage would be done.

No pay raises for airline industry for next 12 years. Between taxes strangling those who work hard and government regulation strangling those that provide jobs we're totally hosed. Then, what about jet fuel?

Well it is time to start having a serious conversation about significant givebacks to help counter all the damage we do burning jet fuel. Payroll deductible carbon offsets perhaps? On top of that, a much smaller industry makes sense. Hourly service between city pairs? That is a luxury the planet can no longer afford. For all of us that must therefore transition out of the industry, learn coding or something like that. That can hold us over until the good paying new green energy jobs come on line.

Global aviation accounts for 3% of CO2 emissions pre-COVID. If they really want to tackle the climate problem there's much lower hanging fruit that is far more damaging.

if I’ve learned anything in the past year or two, it’s that people tend to take action over what they perceive, not necessarily what the data shows

Like I said, the president’s FIRST decision on this was to ban Chinese nationals from entering the country. And the first shot fired was one purely for political reasons. Not to mention that it was a good decision to begin with. So yeah, I stand by what I said, we all know.

Eddie ... you are probably going to have that conversation with yourself.

If you are a coal miner, you can learn to code. Simple as that. Even if you have a very limited education. If you only got through 5th grade, like my grandfather, you can take a college level class in coding.

My grandfather homesteaded, ran a movie projector at a theater, and was a night clerk at a hotel. Never did learn to code.
