I like the fixation on Dr. Gold. If you turn off the TV, there are actually tons of “normal” doctors that say there is no reason for healthy people to get vaccinated. I volunteer for several groups and events and my local airport. A lot of private pilots are doctors. I would say a majority of the ones I’ve talked to say there’s no reason for me to get the vaccine. I know that’s also a small sample size but it’s just an example. Or maybe their PhDs aren’t good enough since they don’t work for the WHO, CDC, or are seen on TV everyday.

I appreciate how respectful of differing opinions this conversation has been the past few pages! Right now, I care about my personal green and what is good for business considerably more than red/blue politics (and I don't need a lesson on why either is better for my personal situation).
I am so happy to see how full airpots are right now, but what I really want to see is my friends and neighbors who are Big4 consultants traveling like they used to. They are ready to travel, their firms are ready to send them, but a lot of clients (especially those outside the country) are still concerned.
Breakthrough, asymptomatic, I dont care...all I care about is countries feeling confident that when variant 'Delta Delta Delta' strikes, the population will mostly recover at home without overwhelming public health infrastructure, and I think vaccines build that confidence.
This chart is not perfect, but shows how this wave is very different than the last waves of covid (in the UK) and supports their reopening plan. What I like, is it attempts to control for the 'look back period' of when cases go up, but few people have succumbed...yet.

I do think that over the next 6-8 weeks the pandemic will end in the US (similar to India now), because the population at large will get immunity one way or another. Then I can start thinking about my 911 spec again:-)
