Default C12 Message: Bye bye Negotiating Committee!

A Message from Your Council 12 Officers

As you may have seen, American Airlines management has presented their pilots with a substandard proposal heavily based on our own substandard proposal, but with improvements over our own TA.

In light of this development, the entire MEC unanimously agreed to suspend all town hall presentations and P2P activities. A Special MEC Meeting has been scheduled for July 6th and 7th to evaluate this change in circumstance.

Your council officers have heard a resounding message from our pilots expressing no appetite for the negotiating committee to be in a position to negotiate on behalf of United pilots. We thank our negotiating committee for the time they have spent, however as they have stated, they have pushed the company as far as they can. We agree with your demand for a new negotiating committee; one that is composed of pilots with real & recent line experience, accountable to an MEC that is in tune with the membership.

It is vital that your voice be heard, and this may be a unique opportunity for us all to send a strong, unified message to the company. Your unified voice can make a difference!

Voting on the TA remains open. Please continue to vote and encourage others to do the same. As you know, we are opposed to the TA for the reasons described in the CON letter and many other reasons you have brought to our attention. This is the time for the unity and power of our membership to send a resounding message to the company - we will not settle for a bad contract with concessions.

Council 12 has historically had a very high participation rate when it comes to voting. We also have a rich history of recognizing a bad deal and we are asking that your vote reflect that accordingly. If you have delayed your vote, or would like to change your vote, now is the time to cast your ballot.

Thank you for your strength, your support and your diligence. In the end, it will be your union vote that decides your future.

Use it now and please VOTE!

Todd was a pitbull as grievance chair. I was very disappointed with his "leadership" as MEC and this TA has his stench all over it. He (along with the rest of the leadership) is supposed to work for line swine, not UAL/Kirby.

Lost track of being a pit bull for the pilots and saw the light. Cushy W2, power, 5 star life, unique trips abroad, lots of fancy dinners, hanging out with custom tailored suits, limos, and favors. And oh, yea, a board seat with first class for entire family if only I can keep it a secret. Wife everyday reminding him how his ship is coming in and she’s enjoying this lifestyle. Never dreamed an airline pilot could have the life of a CEO type.

Todd’s biggest gift to his ego has been the ability to recognize very well those that would fall right in line with him with minimal accountability and minimal promises.

The entirety of the TA2022 was negotiated under Insler: Hamilton was simply the poor sap that Insler set up to try to get it passed.

Ask yourself: What has changed in the 2-3 months between Insler’s departure and Hamilton’s taking the helm? NOT A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT. Why wouldn’t Insler simply ram it through before he left office? He had the MEC and the votes.

Insler was savvy enough to know that it might fail, and it would affect his chances at ALPA NATIONAL PRESIDENT. His name would be associated with a failed, concessionary TA and he couldn’t take that chance.

Enter Mike Hamilton. Hamilton is a fall guy and Insler’s stooge: If TA2022 passes, Insler gets some credit and a shiny new contract to show the folks who are voting for ALPA National President.

If it FAILS, then Hamilton gets left holding his dck in his hand, and Insler never looks back. Hamilton gets egg on his face, Insler comes away clean in this worst case scenario.

The pathetic part is that Hamilton didn’t have the street smarts to figure out this scenario, but now it’s too late. Is this the type of individual you want leading your union?

Man I gotta tell ya, that is dead right on. That dude turned into an a-hole so fast it blew people away almost as fast as Todd blew off anyone who didn't polish his boots. Folks everywhere had to laugh at his last message, "I'm going back to flying the line." OMG! 🤣 What a lie! Never has, still doesn't, and never will unless the pilots finally send that mediocre intern back to being a mediocre airline pilot. You talk to people who have known him from the old days and the picture just gets worse and worse. We been hoodwinked! (Well...some of us.) Todd is still lurking and he needs to GO brutha...that fool needs to GO.

Here you are wrong. Hamilton is hapless and adrift on the River Insler due to no fault of his other than simply being there and watching it happen. As reported: Insler finally wore out his welcome with the company, their negotiators knew he was on the way out, they told ALPA they were not going to strike a deal with Insler MEC since he was outgoing guy, so Hamilton stepped in and told the negotiators to get the deal wrapped up. Hamilton is simply handing us what Insler's hand picked team negotiated. His only mistake was to tell us to vote for it - he should have simply said "give it a look and let us know if it works for you." Period. He'd be clean as a whistle if he did that but he made the "pride of ownership" error that these guys do every time. We'll see if they can now leverage another bite at the apple due to AA fallout...

I’m not sure how Insler wore out his welcome. He gave the company EVERYTHING they wanted including PRA2020, and enough MOUs/LOAs to make your head spin.

I heard about the part where the NC refused to submit what they had and Hamilton/NC supposedly forced them to re-engage. But why insist on submitting a concessionary agreement? I’m guessing Insler promised Kirby they’d get it done BEFORE record Q2 results were announced and Hamilton played along.

Who knows how it really went down? Ultimately, Hamilton presented us with Insler’s product, so he’ll be the patsy.

The BS extension and the BS LOA were both his. This TA is even worse. I had zero expectations and ALPA met them. Glad I'm gone.
