Yes, that is correct.

this may be a plan from SK that if we vote for the next TA we can grow with a new wide body order…or..we can code share w Emirates and be like
Delta.
Putting new hires into the WBFO seats at first year pay is cheaper.

It’s hyperbole, you ever heard of it? (And that’s sarcasm). But it’s laced with truth. What do you want… for everyone to use strictly literal terms with every input they make? Let’s all be robots. What a fun world that would be. But to the man’s point, management has exploited this profession to a point that many feel
we’re not being rewarded in terms of pay and QOL with respect to the amount of responsibility, skills, experience, and our own investments in this career. Management has made it where it takes 15 years (until just recently) on average to “make it”. And when you finally do “make”, life sucks, pay is just barley enough to keep you holding on, and everyone says “well, just pay your dues and in another 10 or 15 years you’re going to be set”.

Default Can you speed up a lateral move?

How about a question that shouldn't get anyone fired up? I'm a new hire, have completed my QLOE but have been waiting to start IOE, so I haven't even started at my original award of LAX. I was fortunate enough to get IAH on the vacancy bid, and FWIW, the OE desk says that they're going to try to get my OE out of Houston (agreed to waive hotel and PS travel since I live nearby). Anyone have a recommendation on the best way to try to get my move from LA to IAH completed sooner than 11/30 since I'm not changing seat or equipment? I was planning to pop in to the CP office at IAH this week to say hello and thought mentioning it there might help.

Thanks!

- Go to helphub.
- search “Lateral Activation Inquiry”.
- put your award in the “reward” field.
- put in the “description” field that you would like to activate your IAH award via vacancy bid 2212v ASAP.

Cross your fingers. It’s completely up to manpower planning. When I did this a year ago they responded that they would try to activate me as soon as possible. They ended up activating me 1 month sooner than the awarded date. So I waited 4 months instead of 5.

That’s it. If you really want you can follow up with a direct email to whoever’s writing the Crew Resource Updates these days. Squeaky wheel & all…

But a few months goes by quick. Nothing in the grand scheme of things. Congrats and welcome to United. Had to say something positive… been too much of a downer already this morning.🙂

Do not go to the CPO unless called. Ideally you can go an entire career at UAL without ever talking to your boss. If you have a major life event and need schedule relief - then CPO if during business hours or FODM if real time or after hours help is needed in an emergency.

TALK TO YOUR MENTOR BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
