Overtly hostile toward race & gender? Overstatement of the century. Literally you get a few emails a year about pride month. Who are these guys that are so threatened by that & how do they survive in the world as it’s existed since around 1974?

Would anyone who left a LCC for a legacy really ever admit their regret??? I’ve talked to multiple guys who moved on from my company and they ALWAYS emphasize how great it is, but I often feel they’re trying to validate their decision to move on. I’m still not truly convinced that commuting for a legacy is better than driving for LCC. If you like to travel though, the flight benies at the big 3 are incomparable.

Well said sir. QOL is my priority and it’s very good with my company. The grass is quite green here and the “shiny object syndrome” of UAL is sounding less and less appealing the more I learn.

The ULCCs are not a horrible place. There are things that I miss but in the overall picture this is a much better airline to be at. If you don’t mind anything from the ULCC you were at then something is wrong with you.

The relationship we have with the FA's is healthy and professional. Conflicts do occur, but I would say that they are the rarity rather than the norm. We have our frustrations and dysfunctions just like anywhere else but I can see myself retiring from this ULCC.

I'm glad you touched on the identity politics issue at UAL. While I can compartmentalize it and do my job, it has been a concern of mine with regard to making the jump. As long as everything runs smoothly, it's not an issue and I could care less about it once the flight deck door is closed. When things DON'T run smoothly (how often does that happen in this industry?), my concern is that UAL will throw me under the proverbial airbus without missing a beat. A top down management structure which is overtly hostile to a specific race & gender is cancerous to the entire organization and not a place I'd care to be.
The identity politics stuff is a company PR thing, not something that you really run across in practice, so I certainly wouldn’t make your decision based on that. However, the schedule you described is not something easily achievable here. At min credit and about 20% or less seniority a more realistic number is 17-19 days off on a NB for about 70-hrs. 20 hr 3-days is a pretty rare event here it ever on the NB side. WBs are a different story, but even then for 20 days off and a higher credit line you’re still talking about seniority that would be many years off.

Please don't come to United. I'd hate to be stuck flying a transcon listening to this flawed logic.

Thank you for the perspective, this is helpful. Everything improves with seniority. Are there elements of trading/swapping that are first-come/first-serve or is it primarily seniority based?

For real. I’m a straight white dude and not once I’ve I felt like the company would “throw me under the bus” for being a straight white dude. People are misunderstanding celebration of diversity as some kind of attack on them.

Was the operation to replace your brain with a potato expensive?

Asian females go first with trip trades, I can't remember whos next. It's a big algorithm based on your assumed privilege.
