Also, selfishly I'm glad to see this pay raise so the CEO of DAL will no longer be able to tout that DAL pilots are the best compensated pilots in the industry.

The raise isn’t shady, thinking that you all are dumb enough to consider it a down payment in your next contract is shady. You already negotiated this 5% as part of your Covid gives. They aren’t doing you some favor. Any gains in your next contract should be on top of this. This should have no bearing on any raises forthcoming in your next contract.

YGTBSM! inflation alone is 16.9% since my last contract was ready to be amended. #FUUAL

Would you rather leave it on the table another quarter?

No pilots I know said anything about considering this a down payment. It is in fact a favor though, as like I mentioned, per the LOA this would not have been paid until at least May. Anything in the next contract should indeed be on top of this, which actually makes it even more of a favor since that percentage will be a multiplier of our pay at 105% and not 100%…

People are treating this like a bad thing, “the company is trying the jam us AGAIN… somehow”, sorry, I don’t see it. Take it for what it is, an early return on pilot investment in the LOA… shouldn’t effect negotiations or a fair TA offering one bit, but it is a nice bit of extra $ that is better now than waiting until May, that’s not somehow bad for us.

That wasn’t the point. People need to keep in mind that this 5% raise is not a “gift”, and not part of any future contractual raises.

Don’t forget the contract improvements that get us back to our current contract.

Possibly preemptive effort to counter planned Informational Picketing with media output about “We just gave the pilots a 5% pay increase, now they complain about pay?”

That is all true, although it’s also true that it’s happening a full quarter earlier than required which does mean we are getting something more than we already had negotiated.

For what it’s worth they claim there are additional unspecified QOL improvements getting baked in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Maybe that’s something, maybe it’s not.

I’ll still be at the picket but I also haven’t forgotten that it was ALPA that negotiated and approved *all* of those concessions. I don’t really buy their faux outrage when 4 months ago they were insinuating we were being paranoid that any of those clauses could possibly come back to bite us, a sub inflationary raise was the best possible offer and selling out on RJ and instructor scope was totally fine in the best negotiating environment in airline history.
