Free money? Contractually required pay moved up for strategic reasons. They aren’t doing it for free. It’s for PR to counter the picket, it’s for taking away the no raise since____ talking point, it’s for bundling in with their eventual offer in hopes people forget what it’s actually for, but it certainly isn’t free money. It’s a cost that they are accepting because they believe there will be a return that justifies the cost.

Now, the only good about that is the xx% raise will be that percentage of a larger number because of the 5% already. BUUUT it’ll take a long time for that to catch up to retro.

Just a reminder that even with the 5% our pay rates are behind several regionals.
Year 1 pay for new hires is only $5 more than Skywest, an non-union airline.
Go look at the ALPA dues taken from your last paycheck, then let that sink in.

This might come as a big surprise that some of you… But you can feel like you are paid well, believe management is as good as it’s been for decades, and still demand a big raise, because the market dictates it.
We don’t need the black-and-white emotional thinking of a fifth grader to get a great contract. Like hummingbird said, I assume the 5% was already owed us, and evaluate the new TA on its terms…

You can't say it's a contractually required pay, when the contract explicitly says that we shouldn't be getting the 5% for at least another 2 quarters. That gesture shouldn't change our negotiating points one bit, but that doesn't mean we can't accept it with a little more grace.

TA 2 if/when completed will be judged on its merits and its merits alone. In the mean time, I’ll take 5% 6 months early and put it to work making more for my family.
