Just for the record inflation is up 18.39% since our contract became amendable. And that 5% absolutely has nothing to do with getting us closer to being made whole. Only retro, like required in the MEC policy manual, will do that.

The 5% was already bought and paid for that they paid early.

They know we are getting a pay raise with the new contract. It wouldn’t be hard to do this to show appreciation for us being “Flight Deck Leaders.”

We are coming up on the one year anniversary of forced 90 hour lines, all in the name of helping with the bounce back, whatever that means.

We have gotten nothing for it by being the best “Flight Deck Leaders” we can be. We are tired. Company knows this, and didn’t help matters by increasing the LPA after bidding opened.

That’s why we got the 5% raise early.

Why is it so hard for some people to understand that not a soul is mad about the 5%? What gives people pause, and rightfully so, is the accompanying message that it is somehow a downpayment for a new contract. Why is this so hard to grasp?

I agree. They will be happy the bar is raised, however unhappy that United guys are getting a pay bump next month while they are not.

It simply raises the temperature in the room of negotiations at those carriers. Pushes them closer to a deal because the perception that UAL guys got a raise (DL, SWA, and AA guys don't care why we got it) and they are still waiting for how long?

It simply is a call for those negotiators to step up and show their hand.

Why is it so hard to grasp that we all read the message, we aren’t idiots, we know what they are trying to accomplish? Why is it so hard to grasp that we can and will judge TA2 on its individual merits and still be ok with taking 5% 6 months early?

Im actually kind of offended by this sentiment I see posted. It’s implying we are idiots incapable of understanding the situation for what it is now and still holding company to a high standard later.

Couldn't agree more and I hope you are on the "other" forum as well

BUT . . .

real politik will rule the day and no amount of inflation or whatever will matter. What matters is what has happened in the recent past, and the only gauge is the Alaska contract so that is what we can expect at Delta, United, and American. Alaska + a tiny thing. What does that mean? It means a 20 to 25% pay raise and no QOL gives and a few tiny QOL gains. Alaska voted like 78 or something close to 80% yes, I think . . . going from memory here.

Ya, I think you’ve got to read thru some more comments to see that everyone isn’t seeing what they are trying to accomplish. Don’t be offended. If it doesn’t apply to you, it doesn’t apply to you. There are plenty it applies to.

Uhm…totally missing everyone’s point. No one is against the 5% (maybe one is). People are combating the idea that this is at all connected to section 6, or a down payment on inflation. That’s the narrative given by the company, there’re going to keep pushing that narrative, and it needs to be combated strongly lest the faithful forget.
