I’m having a cow…so what? It’s a choice to bid reserve, it’s a choice to commute, it’s a choice to get a vax…uh…wait scratch that last one.
I’m all for some sort of positive space commuting, but it should be something for everyone. Someone mentioned miles, or keep it simple and give everyone “X” amount of positive space passes per year. Using negotiating capital for commuters alone is unfair. And yes, I’ve commuted and I know it sucks.

Okay, I'm poking here, even though it seriously is.
The suggestion above actually seems fair enough. Or, give positive space to commuters and make all open time pickups pay premium, and pilots in-base should be pretty happy, too.

We've already got lineholder FSB. Every time you pass through a hub with more than an of hour of sit time, you are FSB. That overnight to FLL? Sorry, you just got reassigned to a DTW overnight.
That's what I've been saying. Charge the customers more. I occasionally hear a passenger complain about 'high ticket prices'. Screw 'em - they don't care that we haven't seen pay raises for years; we've been subsidizing those lower air fares. Covid airfares are over.
My comments from reading this entire thread:
No matter how good the contract, there will be some item for everyone to be unhappy.
My personal heartburn is making the new contract even more complicated with a bunch of add pays. I'd love a contract that doesn't require a lawyer to interpret it.
I see some rumors here about what's in the next offering. I'll wait to read it before I believe any rumors.
We'll have a new contract soon enough.
Kirby says the Delta agreement will push pilot wages up across carriers and be passed onto consumers in the form of higher airplane ticket prices.
"The biggest news for an investor perspective is cost convergence in the industry means that what is different now is all the low cost carriers are going to have come up to these much higher pay rates," Kirby said. "This is going to wind up like oil prices -- it's going to be a pass through."
Kirby said demand is still strong for airplane tickets, which he noted are cheaper today than over the last 15 years.
"Prices are still in historical terms 40-50% lower in real terms," Kirby said. "They are going to go up but it's still going to be the best value of your travel," he said, comparing flights to hikes in hotels, rental cars and theme park tickets.

maybe that’s the answer . Offer folks the choice of 4 positive space tickets per month or $20 / hour override - or something along those lines.

As a mid continent based pilot you’re right I’d fight against it. You already get higher pay because you’re able to hold a much higher position than you could in any mid continent base. As a matter of fact if we had COLA and PS commuting watch how senior those bases go. I would be 50% in SFO as a WB CA or a bottom reserve in a mid continent. There’s the COLA right there. The people who bid the coastal bases already have it built in.
