I'm not in the know; I've just gone through this crapshow before and learned from it.
I'm also not one to blow sunshine and hopium up others' poop shoots. I know I'm cynical, but I'll be happy to post that I'm wrong when the dust settles, should this go differently. What will be your response if this goes down the way I've posted?

On a side note, I can see you don't know what happens when the language of House and Senate versions of a bill are different.

... and yet, you think/hope that it will go differently this time.

If you knew they had to reconcile, why did you bother making a statement about it making it through the Senate? You know in the end the Senate version doesn't matter.

There is so much $$$$$ flowing overall, that congressmen/senators are more worried about how the FAA is going to sprinkle the love in their districts through contracts, jobs, etc. Age 65/67 isn't even a blip on their radar when the tax payer $$$$$ are being spent.

These kinds of bills are how you feather your reelection bed by getting donations from the companies who get $$$$$ from the feds for work performed.

Age 67 would have been a reality 12 months ago when Senator Graham first introduced it.... but he couldn't even get it out of Committee in the Dem controlled Senate. The power of the PAC... That's a lot of retirements/movement since then.

Yes and then that same committee and those same committee members R (32 members) and D (31 members) voted unanimously for the final bill which included age 67:

The House committee approved the roughly 800-page FAA bill by a unanimous 63-0 vote. It is expected to be taken up by the entire House next month.”

Well. Yes. The committee voted unanimously for the full FAA Reauthorization Bill. That bill includes the age 67 amendment. The Democrats lost the vote on the age 67 amendment. Meaning it made it onto the final House Bill. The battle was lost. Too bad the Republicans have the majority in the House.

Meanwhile in the Senate Commerce Committee.....

A bipartisan group of Senate Commerce Committee Members have worked with stakeholders, constituents, airports, and community leaders to draft amendments to safely address the pilot shortage. Yet, Committee Majority Leadership won’t even allow consideration of these amendments because the Airline Pilot Association (ALPA) and the Senate Majority Leader (D) oppose them. Today, RAA President and CEO Faye Malarkey Black sent a letter to lawmakers urging consideration of these important amendments.

We can speculate on why ALPA doesn’t want to solve the pilot shortage. However, Senate leaders must ensure a labor union representing
the wealthiest work group in America does not exert undue influence on what can and cannot be considered by the U.S. Senate.

read the letter here: https://www.raa.org/wp-content/uploa...06.21.23-2.pdf

Back the PAC baby !!!

The solution is simple.....only allow those who are 65 and 66 to work at the regionals as DEC's. Might solve the pilot shortage issue, but it will NOT stagnate others.

I understand completely how pathetic the US education system has become (dated multiple teachers the last decade), but I truly hope to god you understand how this works.

BOTH Chambers have to pass legislation before being sent to a President (who can potentially veto bills).

It doesn’t matter wtf a majority party in the House includes. The reality is the other side, in the Senate, has a majority and (as of now) doesn’t seem to care about doing much with 67.

Not saying things can’t/won’t change but you seem to think this is a 1000% a done deal because ONE Chamber has it included. That’s not even close to how this works.
