Default SkyWest Airlines metering

I know it was never "official," but does anyone know if United Airlines is still metering pilots from SkyWest Airlines?

I have a class date with a different major already, but I am still weighing my option. I do not necessarily want to hop around, hence, I care.

None of the legacies benefit from pillaging their own regional feed, so its a certainty that AAL/DAL/UAL are all metering to some extent. If you want to get hired by a particular legacy as soon as possible DO NOT work for their regional partners.

May be anecdotal but some Skywest people in my LCC class got an invite very shortly after updating their application to include their new LCC employer.

I apologize if I take a long time to respond, but since I am new on the forum everything has to be approved.

I am having some difficulties in being considered by United Airlines, although my flight experience is more than required, and it appears to be higher than most applicants nowadays. I paid for a professional service to review and improve my resume, and I have worked with Emerald Coast to clean up my answers for my interviews.

Previously, I interviewed with another major, and I am waiting for the class date. But after I got a better overall view of the current aviation industry, I believe that United Airlines is a better fit as type of flying and domiciles. I am pondering whether if I start with the other major, I should bite the bullet and stay to build seniority, or if I have any chance of receiving the assessment from United Airlines before I make the move.

I know some other pilots in my very same position, and since we are all currently working as captains for SkyWest Airlines, it feels like we are back to one-two years ago, when metering seemed to be at its worst.

There is a clear and definitive answer to your question. Unfortunately, the people who know it don't post here.

So you only got rumors. But even if the answer was a known yes - metering implies slowed hiring, not a total ban. When would your number come up - who knows.

So take the bird in hand. And then take the job offer that will likely come from United within 3 months.
I would push back on your aversion to "hopping around". Plenty of people do it. It looks bad before a career job. It doesn't look bad (or matter) with career jobs.

DL publicly admitted to doing it when I was at 9E. Got emails from management about it.
