Is DEN CA likely any time soon for a new hire?

Interesting times!
Has anyone run a doomsday scenario or can any of the seasoned members shed some light on previous furloughs. Are these recent street captains doomed to furlough and then only to return to the right seat for decades?

Im not sure what you’re asking exactly. First, they aren’t really street captains in the traditional sense. They will spend a year in the right seat before going to upgrade training. To lead into the second part of your question, these indoc captain award new hires are bidding vacancies. Currently there are captain vacancies and the new contract allows the company to offer them to new hires. It doesn’t change the pilot’s relative company seniority or furlough insulation.

Second. Yes. If there are furloughs it will happen as any furlough would. Furloughing 2000 pilots? The bottom 2000 pilots will be shown the door, no matter captain or FO. When recalls happen, they will be able to come back and bid whatever their seniority can hold. Thats the way the cookies crumble in this industry.

sure that could happen or they can spend 40 years as a Captain.

Nobody would last that long, especially since many of those years would be spent on reserve.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy. They don't publish the DOH on the seniority lists due to all of the integration issues where CO pilots pumped UA pilots way down the list.
