Similar situation execpt at FX....just about 3 years but the back side of the clock flying and the direction FX wants to go are serious things to consider. FX is not going to hire for who knows how long they are happy just outsourcing and the pilot group is so divided. Got hired on during the covid high period and thought WOW....FX but in reality this pilot group and company were somehow able to hide all the inadequacies and below industry standard work rules that exist here. Commuting to MEM is painful and moving there is out of the question MEM is a dump. Have a cjo but is it a safe move to start all over again...but is riding out night hub turns and back side of the clock flying at a company that will not grow, has subpar pay and work rules and clearly would rather outsource then conitue to utilize their own pilot group good also?

Stay at DL and enjoy a better career than 99.9% of airline pilots will have. When I was 26 I was a 5 year RJ FO still years away from upgrade working 95 hour lines and every weekend to make ends meat at $40/hr.........just enjoy the amazing timing you have had. It literally doesn't get better than what you have now, you will be a DL captain for over 35 years!

I mean, with the amount of young people aged 25-32 UA has hired, I think it's a valid concern.
Hell I'm turning 30 in the not so distant future and I feel super behind the 8 ball. I've got a long ways to go before I'm remotely competitive for UA, and I can't help but feel the FOMO/anxiety of getting buried beneath thousands of upper 20s/low 30s guys and the potential stagnation that'll bring in the future.
Unfortunately my time machine is still broken.

Also in a similar situation to all these potential UAL hopefuls. I was hired at AA a year ago and never got the call despite UAL being my first choice - but hey, I had a job and I'm grateful. AA has been good so far but I've noticed the writing on the walls at AA. We've been shrinking in popular hubs, missing earnings, and hemorrhaging money ($143M this quarter) while still having a mountain of debt. It all points to trouble ahead. That combined with the union troubles and the push to join ALPA just makes me think the next contract might have concessions - I'm probably just being extremely paranoid. Overall I just don't feel confident. Moved recently from MIA to ORD and my seniority has been stagnant since we went on a hiring freeze this summer. UAL's presence here is much larger than AA's and it's the location I'd like to make long-term. The WB flying opportunities are also much better at UAL. I kept updating my app and was lucky to secure a CJO earlier this month. Still awaiting a class date but was wondering if the "stay where you are" dogma still applies if leaving American.
The plan is to focus on remaining in Chicago or possibly the West Coast in the future. I like the WB opportunities that UAL provides and I'm not confident in AA's finances, leadership, and aircraft fleet opportunities.

Otherwise, stay where your at with Year 2+ pay, fly WB at AA at ORD when it comes or first upgrade, and enjoy the airline with the most retirements assuming AA hiring keeps up.
AA: More retirements, live in base, you can prob upgrade now or soon, go WB soon, probation/year 2 pay completed… all big wins
UA: More “planned” growth that’s already been hindered via Boeing, currently much better finances.. the quality/ability to fly WB is a wash at any legacy, you’d be giving up a great spot at AA and throwing yourself closer to a furlough line for shiny plane syndrome. But if move to SFO you’d be a fool not to jump over.
