I’ve found the differences between bases to be pretty minimal. If I’m flying a broken pairing with someone from another base, 99% of the time I won’t be able to tell just by interacting with them. That said, there are a few “unique” individuals out there, and they always seem to be based in IAH…

Just my experience as an east coast NB guy.

As you probably have noticed from your societal experience non military people act different than military people.

Just for the OP… it isn’t half or close. There are a lot, for sure, just as there are at any major airline. The military doesn’t make enough pilots every year for there to be that many at a single airline. You’ll find that the culture at the individual level isn’t much different any base or major airline for that matter. Most people just ended up at the place that was first to call and didn’t furlough them.

Can you elaborate on the IAH…is it the snakeskin boots or something else?

Ughh The Culture between HERE and JetBlue is A LOT different. Ask me how I know.

As to your other diagnosis about the production line. The civilian world also doesn’t really produce that much. While no stats exist as far as ATP, over 80% of commercial certifications granted by the FAA go to Foreign Nationals.

IDK if it means anything, but (according a guy in the JS last week) the latest recommendation circulating for new hires and upgrades is to call in sick if you get an IAH based LCA for OE. Apparently one of them has the system record for PBS avoid commands.

Yeah isn’t strange how so many LCA’s can be so great to fly with, and some well …….well they just can’t. I guarantee you though, this particular one thinks he is great.

Which equipment is this?

I've flown with more than a handful of great IAH LCPs, including some really down-to-earth guys that don't have the LCP attitude.

I'm sure the opposite exists, too, but I'd be hard-pressed to believe they're limited to IAH. But now you've got me curious who I should be on the lookout for.

Dead on for IAH
Them west Texas boys wearing the Texas sh!t kicker boots always cracks me up. You can hear them coming well before you see them .Klump klump 🤣
And believe it or not , they wear them with baggy pleated front uniform pants .
Belt looped cell phone holder is standard issue with the ex con boys in Iah and united sop is just a recommendation. “ That’s a United thing , we didn’t do it that way at continental “ lol .
Different breed indeed .

Kind of like the LUA pilots refusing to wear the hat because it was optional pre-merger?😁
