Can’t speak to Blue specifically, but I hail from a ULCC with similar culture. I think UA is great overall but pales in the culture dept. My unofficial data collection pins it on the large military influence. I feel like it’s about 50/50 with a MIL guy whether they’re awesome or absolutely awful, and it’s usually one of the extremes.

Standard 5% aholes, 5% crazies (no social skills), and some combos… other than that not much difference that I’ve seen over the years since we merged.

Still promoting that legacy wing lore after 12 years?

For decades LAX has been very chill. If you want to be asked if you’re CAL or UAL and listen right wing conspiracies and anti vax beliefs, IAH is the domicile for you.

I've worked here for over a decade across both NB and WB fleets. I've flown with people from every base. I can probably count on one hand the number of people I would never want to fly with again. Every airline has their duds.

Outside of the anecdotal and sometimes funny cliches of people from base ABC or DEF, I've really enjoyed the people I fly with. The WB vs NB vibe is where the cultural difference lies, and that's only due to the type of flying that's done. Professional but relaxed is what I tell people to expect in the cockpit. Enjoy the ride at UAL. I certainly have!

From: 18%er but I’ll enforce UPA23 to the last period.

I share this opinion and I’m pretty sure I came from the other side of the merger. The 5% are the 5% no matter where they hail from. The rest of us are pretty cool

I think everyone will agree that SFO is THE best base in the system.

It’s nothing I’d decline the CJO for, but it’s certainly different. I’ll send you a PM with my honest thoughts.

We’ve got mostly good people at all the bases. Mostly.
