Don't go down the path of the Darkside. You guys need to look at NWA/DAL for leadership, not the US Airways mess. 5 years after the merger and there is zero in the way of a new contract and both sides are entrenched. Put it in the hands of the ALPA merger process for the SLI and get the contract in place first.
Thanks for the advice Mike. But it seems that it might bee too late for that. We'll see.

This latest news on the CAL/UAL JCBA front doesn't surprise me in the least!

Good Luck!

Jet, you worm. You pine for the days of old when you had some of us who were never scabs working for you without union representation between the strike and IACP.

No mater how ugly this gets, I'd rather be scewed by my fellow union members 1000 times, than work for you one single day ever again without representation.

What...more name calling? Hey, I'm an ALPA dues paying line puke just like you, Bligh. It's just that I don't fall into lock-step with any union. I have no idea what you're referring to. Sometimes the truth can be pretty painful....but you gotta deal with it, buddy. Sorry!

Best -

Its the only way CAL can argue SLI career expectations part of merger policy if compensation of CAL can equal the widebody difference. I really don't believe I'm telling you something you don't already know though.

P.S. The Magenta line nor politics of this merger bothers me at all. In the long run this is best for all of us once we start pulling on the rope together.

Amazing how UA wanted to burn the place down and now it is the greatest place ever. I'm just sayin.

Bottom line is I fully expected a battle. If there wasn't a battle then our future as a UA pilot group later on is in question. Battle it out. When it is all over, get over it. There isn't much you can do.

However, why does Wendy attack and conquer in public? That will not help with the JCBA and that is what really bothers me. I don't care about the he said she said my 744 is better than your 787. I care about a contract.

The politics on both side of this merger stink. It will be interesting to see if we are still ALPA after we are 11K pilots standing together. Don't expect this to be DL/NW. It isn't. Both were in BK. Everyone has their eyes on THIS merger and we need to set the bar.....

sorry...slight thread drift.

She didn't attack in public. She fulfilled her duties as the UAL Master Chairman and communicated the current JCBA situation to her pilot constituents. The fact that it was posted here is out of her hands. And even though she may be aware that her messages will be leaked, that wouldn't change the tone or content of her communications to the pilots that she represents.
You may not like the message, but don't make it out to be any more than it is.

OK, I am really trying to understand all this and especially this portion.

According to our MEC conference call a few weeks ago, the JNC--read that again that is THE JOINT NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE COMPRISED OF NEGOTIATORS FROM BOTH PILOT GROUPS--drafted a compensation proposal section. That means they created the proposal TOGETHER. This proposal was presented to the MECs for their consideration, review and approval for presentation to airline management. The CAL MEC approved this compensation proposal and we are now waiting on the UAL MEC to approve the proposal as developed by the JOINT NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE in order to present it to management. How is this the CAL MEC delaying anything?

While the tactics of some of the CAL MEC members may be questioned, to suggest that our MEC is solely to blame for the lack of progress is insulting. If the UAL MEC has a problem with the JNC compensation proposal, maybe they should be taking their JNC members to task for serious explanations if it didn't meet the UAL MEC's wishes. Don't we have a JNC for a reason?

Even our MEC members on that conference call stated that the UAL MEC was trying to use tactics in negotiations to further their pilots over ours. Guess what? Both sides are probably right and it is to be expected as each side looks out for their pilots. So the truth of the matter is that the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle of both the CAL MEC's version of things and the UAL MEC's version of things.

I want both sides to hammer this issue out. Make a super-duper, big humped wide body pay category for all I care. I am too junior to expect to ever see that plane anyway as most CAL pilots feel.

Quite frankly I'm surprised it took this long to disagree about something. The CAL MEC will always try and do what is best for their Pilot group and I fully expect the UAL MEC to do the same. Everyone's on here pining about how smooth the DAL/NWA thing went but I remember Moak pulling some fast ones that the NWA guys were furious about.

This thing isn't about to fall off the tracks and as Wendy says at the bottom of her message, the negotiations will resume and both groups will be expecting a contract that is Industry leading.

Don't sweat the small stuff and hopefully both MEC's will ditch the public BS and get back to business.

A round of Kumbya's for everybody !!
