I am not certain about the 8 going to GUM in the first class. The bid had 8 vacancies in GUM, and the FAQ said they would tell you if you were accepting a class that had GUM vacancies. Did someone make an assumption? It sure seems like they need people in EWR more with something like 98 vacancies. With a class of 12 running every 2 weeks totaling around 200 pilots to be hired, this hiring should run thru April. When will United have to start hiring in preparation for retirements in December of next year, summer 2012? I would expect anyone hired at CO to go back to UA if there isn't a contract by then.

No assumption unless it changes from Friday. CO wants to fill those slots with volunteers to get their returned furlough pilots out of Guam if they don't want to be there. First class is the only one you'll know for sure what the assignment is, I.E. 5-12 are going to Guam. Accept the hire or not.
Good news is that after that no one should have to worry about Guam.

No assumption.. I heard it with my own ears from the guy that is doing the calling next week. You wouldn't want to get stuck commuting to GUM, especially if your a volunteer furloughee or 2172.

Sounds like they still have unresolved issues that are preventing the calls from going out. Sure getting both companies to agree on how/when to do this for the coordinators is like pushing a wet noodle up hill with your nose.

If this is true, then it will pretty much put the 189 voluntary furloughs in a 30+ day by pass cycle. This will also allow more junior guys to come back until the 30 days pass.

It's going to be an interesting and telling week.

That would be interesting, since they are out of the hiring pool for 30 days, they may fill two classes before they can re-enter the process. This would give some folds south of 400 a shot.

Actually think the TPA says up to 30 days. Think you could turn down the first class, put your name back in that day and maybe be in the class two weeks later.

(ii) No Pilot shall be entitled to more than two (2) offers of employment pursuant to this Section 7-B. If a Pilot declines the first offer, the employing Airline will not contact him for a second offer until he provides at least thirty (30) days notice to the employing Airline in writing of his desire to re-enter the hiring process. At that time he will be eligible for the next available offer in seniority order.

How long do you have to respond to the offer?

Straight off page 11 off the TPA, looks like by the time they get in writing and mailed they could miss out on two classes if there are 2 per month.
