Time to go out and get two seperate contracts for now and do a re-set some time next year. Let the UAL MEC go out and get it's own CBA, and let the CAL guys go out and get theirs.
Get enough similarities and commonalities that would bring about some pairity to level the playing field and that would facilitate a more neutral negotiating enviornment for a JCBA in 2013. 2012 is over for a JCBA.
It's every man for themselves for 2012.................

The side letter negotiated took care of profit sharing for the 2011 calendar year. It expired previously. There was a reason CAL management would not extend it further or indefinitely. They saw an opportunity to trade for something down the road. Essentially it was a win for both CAL management and the CAL pilots.
The CAL pilots traded a worthless grievance that would have resulted in very little for some real money that would benefited all the CAL pilots. It was a good trade.
Glad you think it was a worthless grievance, I don't. Can I ask you what fleet and seat you're on? As a 756 FO, I don't get near 76 flying (being junior..), but haven spoken to numerous Captains and senior FO's, they have seen a reduction in their pay due to less 76 flying due to the loss (with CAL ALPA Approval) of these aircraft.
Also, don't you think it strange that THIS MANAGEMENT TEAM would trade away 40+million for a grievance that was worth a fraction of that, and that is IF they lost?! Had they won, they wouldn't have had to pay anything?!

Guess we'll agree to disagree. What are your plans for Profit Sharing 2012? We don't have it in the TPA Extension.. guess we'll have to make another "side deal".

Please don't group all the CAL Pilots together when it comes to crap like this. As other CAL Pilots have already posted, if push comes to shove.. many of us will stand shoulder to shoulder with you.
I have gone to numerous events, and have opened my door to UAL pilots needing a place to stay, or a ride.
While I understand that we are two separate pilots groups, at the end of the day- we are all suppose to be Union Pilots. Our fight is not, and should not; be against each other. Our fight is with this management team.
That being said, both groups (every pilot group probably) has their 5-10% of *******s, idiots, self centered, saviors and nutjobs. Just got to weed them out~

No way Obama lets us walk.
There is only one way to find out. Even if B.O. makes an emergency stop order this sends a message loud and clear and once and for all that things are not well at UCH and that Mr. Smallsack has been providing a false picture to Wall Street.
This will not look good for co worker Jeff.

Co-Worker Jeff is on a long-leash with the BOD. I thought his leash was short, but the BOD evidently has given him great latitude to screw us at will. Maybe the leverage should be applied to the BOD.......Time for a letter writing campaign in their local newspapers "shaming them" among other things.

History also shows that ALPA won't go to court for anything.
History shows that CAL management would drag this out until your great grand children are in their rocking chairs.
It is not just a 756 issue. it affects all cal pilots becaue all cal pilots get to bid into the various BES's. It has a more immediate affect on the currently staffed 756 pilots, but it has a cascading affect on all cal pilots.
When the word "cascading effect" is used by both ALPA and management........run for cover. That is code talk for "an arbitrator won't cut the baby." Like age 65 at CAL...........remember that one. ALPA just left it alone and walked away even though it had demonstrated a cascading affect on the entire seniority list at CAL. And that was just for 24 over 60 friends of phred.
perhaps worthless was too strong. But, overall the CAL pilots feel it was a good trade. Could the MEC have done better. I think so. I really do. I would have liked to see more here. The reason we didn't is because the CAL MEC didn't hold out for more.
