Don't forget about 10 year bypass rights. Many can wait until 2019 before they have to decide.

In 08 did they send an email stating 1 year to get on property? If so I am glad to hear it.
For what it is worth the email from this morning did state that classes will be running this fall and winter, the question is how they will be filled. Returning furloughs or new hires.
Guess we will see. Thanks for everyone's input.

Be interesting to see how a UAL furlough flying the 737 at CAL gets recalled to fly the 737 what kind of school will he need to go threw to get his vacation restored?

If a pilot is currently flying on the CAL side of United, as soon as SLI is done, he is already back on the property. He doesn't get recalled again. There won't be a CAL seniority list anymore. Just the UAL seniority list, and he will just have a new place on it.

My understanding is that the two sides of the fence are still a few phases of training apart from allowing mixed crews from flying together. I guess a better example would be that a furlough flying the 757 in EWR gets a bid for LAX how what type of training will they get? Is it just a simple day of Saber training and off you go?

After SLI, he or she will have a choice of two seniority positions with the integrated company. Seniority as a L-UAL pilot or L-CAL pilot.
Who knows he or she might be better off with 1 year L-CAL position instead of 10 years L-UAL

So legally, they all will have an official recall letter, and bypass rights up to 10 years from the last furlough notice of 2008, hence 2018.
They will have a choice of places on the new SLI, as a L-UAL pilot or L-CAL pilot. If they choose to be integrated as a L-CAL they stay put. Who knows how arbitrators will integrate the list, it might be that the most junior pilot on furlough list be better off being a L-CAL pilot with new hire date of 2011.
