I really appreciate you taking the time to write that. Here's to hoping this finishes quickly and smoothly so we can all get on with the task of moving on up the list!!!!! The beer is on me.

I'll tell you why the Delta system is better. The jumpseat window opens at noon 6 days prior for guys going to work (book Monday at noon for following Sunday jumpeat), 4 days going from, and 2 days for personal use. It is first come, first serve. Once you have your jumpseat booked, you know you are getting on that flight. No more checking loads, watching for a senior pilot, etc. You are getting to work. If someone beats you to booking the jumpseat (sometimes by a second), you book another one. Your seniority system is idiotic. There is always someone more senior that can show up last minute and bump you. Why do you guys put yourself through that much stress. US Airways has a similar system to Delta. American has a similar system to CAL. I am curious to see if they have this same fight.

Keep fighting to preserve your precious seniority on the jumpseat. How are you guys going to handle non-revving since other employee groups are involved?

Nov-rev travel priority is not defined in the pilot CBA and all employees of the company travel using DOH.

So you get called 24 hours out on reserve for a trip, but can't get on the jumpseat because the previous day some new hire took the jumpseat for "personal use".

Great system. NOT.

UAL and CAL both have used a system of Pilot Seniority for jumpseat priority. Why should a 30 year pilot have to give a jumpseat to a 60 days pilot because he has faster fingers and keyboard skills. By your system, why not let the guy that enters his bids in for monthly bidding faster go first regardless of pilot seniority. Why not do the same for equip or seat bids - WRONG!
Pilot Seniority has served both the UAL and CAL pilot well for some time. Trying to change it pre or post MEC merger is a mistake. It would be very disappointing if your "fast finger" method or DOH method prevails when it comes to pilot only stuff. Pilot Seniority should and will rule.

That's your pilot groups' choice. I have worked under both systems. I prefer our system. I will say it is tough on reserve pilots. That is a valid point. It is nice to have a confirmed seat going to work. Good luck working this out. It sounds like your two groups can't agree to anything.

Mostly. We wanted to merge based on policy. They wanted to staple everyone that was hired 1997 and later behind their furloughees because "We run our airline with 4,700 pilots. Can't imagine why United needs more pilots than that?! They must be EXTRA PILOTS"

May I ask how senior you are at Delta? I'm guessing not terribly. I'm sure the "sign up" system is great for junior folks, but I think most of us are satisfied with our seniority system. I hope our (LUAL) MEC drops their request to change what has worked well for us all

Exactly. So you are late getting home because of delays, and there is only one flight to get you home. You get there and some new hire is traveling for "fun" and he signed up two days ago, but you couldn't have because you were supposed to be in 4 hours earlier, and you signed up for another flight (which pilots avoided trying to get on because they saw you had the seat even though you never showed us).

So you get to spend the night at the airport while someone junior to you gets to go to on vacation for a few days and visit friends.
