Is United's "internal" system the key to getting your foot in the door, like DAL?

I started off kinda slow in life...mult. undergrad schools w/lousy GPAs, quite a collection of speeding tickets from 20 years ago too, but think I've made up for it since then:
Retiring AF
3,600 TT multi-engine heavy
1,700 PIC/IP/EP
Ch, Stan/Eval
Ch of Safety
DO
2x Masters (3.7, 3.8)
But still concerned my early days may hold me back as I watch guys go around me for interviews and get hired...

I'm all CIV.
3.1 B.S. from ERAU
7200 TT
4250 TPIC (All RJ)
Not a single training failure or bad letter.
10 letters of recommendation from LCAL, LUAL, combined UAL and a former CP from my airline.
3 Job fairs talked to United every time.
Not a peep...

On the pre 9/11 application of old, there were two parts. The infamous bubble sheet/scantron, and the actual app with your data. The scan-tron was simply flight time, you bubbled in the various categories, with PIC time in various forms being on the top, SIC and other on the bottom. In theory, what was SUPPOSED to happen was that once they received the app in the mail, the scantron goes one direction, the app goes another. The ONLY thing that identified you on the scantron was SSN. What they did, IN THEORY, was enter the scantrons into the WHOPPR/HAL2000 uber computer, and have it spit out the SSN numbers of (insert various flight time breakdowns and flight time demographics here), THEN go pull said SSN number's application for review and interview selection.

AGAIN, IN THEORY that's how the system worked. And as well all know, that wasn't how it ACTUALLY worked. Sound's like a pretty decent system though, right? Cull the apps of the most flight experienced applicants, THEN look at their apps for outliers/additional competitive factors.

NOW, those competitive points or application enhancers have broadened out considerably.

It's NOT a guaranty to "get you in the door" at DAL, it simply means your app will get pulled and scored. If it doesn't score hight enough, doesn't matter. Going to a job fair will get it scored as well.

Thanks fella's... Just waiting my turn like so many others and trying to keep positive.

Congrats 10Lover! You've got some fantastic qual's, and thanks very much for your service. Don't worry worry about those early years, to me it says your not a lame dude to spend a 5 day with and probably have some good stories for the bar down route
