I would hope it would still carry some weight. The intern who sent out the update to the people waiting on ord meet n greets didnt hide the cc list. I think there were 54 of us on the list at that time. I'm sure its bigger by now.

Well, seeing as how we didn't do any hiring between December and now don't feel too bad. The first thing the CP will tell you is that it's not a magic bullet. Lots of folks with CP recs are stills waiting too. Lots. Tons.

Subjective question, I suppose: if one doesn't have the option of an M&G, does a job fair have similar effectiveness(or is it apples and oranges?).

I don't think so. Many more people have gone to job fairs vs M&G so just guessing that is more valuable.

That makes sense. So is it absolutely necessary to have an M&G to get an interview?

Nope. I never did a M&G and I start class in July... I did, however, go to Women in Aviation conference.

Does it bother any other line pilots that this M&G stuff is going on? Shouldn't a recomendation from a "line" pilot be worth just as much?

I went to 1 job fair back in September 2012 in ATL. Never did a Meet and Greet, but was working on trying to get one when I got the call for the interview.

Its probably helpful to some who might not otherwise get picked from the awarding of points by the system but who knows. I had 11 letters of rec, 6 were from CAL/UAL people, the others were from other sources.

I am currently a regional CA, Check Airman, and APD, so the points I might not have gotten from a M&G probably came from the other stuff.

I'm not a big fan of the job fair thing, and I'll never know if its what got me the call or not, but do whatever it takes to get the job you want (within reason of course).
