These are people I really enjoyed flying with and in my opinion have great personalities. Not sure what "personality" United is looking for, but I would guess much more than 1 out of 10 don't pass that test.
I never said anything about the test being easy. I count myself with (I assume) the large majority who isn't too happy at the prospect of missing out on a potential career opportunity just because of not marking a couple of true/false questions on an internet quiz the way some MBA with a psychology minor thinks I should. I'm only trying to get some more discussion going based on what is known about the process for those who want to know what to expect.

As to the 1 in 10 failure rate, I believe the source to be fairly credible, but even reliable sources get their information confused sometimes. If anyone has heard anything to the contrary, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

From a good source of mine that is involved with the hiring process regarding the Hogan test... Supposedly when CV was at the helm, the merit of the test was discussed and his reasoning for supporting it was that the way many individuals handled themselves (poorly) following a thanks but no thanks from not passing the test further supported his belief that the test was doing an acceptable job of weeding out candidates. If this is indeed the case, it wasn't just HR that supported the Hogan test, but CV himself. Now that he has moved on, who knows if BK also believes the test to be of value to their process.

Hummingbear, sorry, after I re-read your prior post I see what your saying now. I just answered the questions consistently and honestly and by some luck of God I some how passed it. It was 2 separate 200 something question tests that were multiple choice answers. I took both tests back to back and it took about 45 minutes. As a previous guy said a lot of the questions repeat themselves word for word, so make sure your answers are the same. I got a phone call for an interview about a week after taking it. Good Luck to you all!!!!

BINGO! The above is the key to the Hogan, consistency in your answers. DO NOT try to game the test, or answer what you think United wants.

Just be honest in your answers so that you won't have to remember to match the other 3 or 4 questions that basically ask the same thing or trait.

Good Luck!

Completely agree. Just answer as honestly as you can. Very repetitive and can be a little disconcerting when you see almost the same question but ever so slightly different. Just stick w honesty.

I don't have a source, but from the people I know who have received the email to take the test... I'd agree with about 1 in 10 are asked for an interview.

I took the test on a weekday afternoon was called the next day for an interview... But that was back in Aug/Sept

Good Luck!

I had heard something similar. Unfortunately, this could be largely a self fulfilling prophecy. Those who pass the test wouldn't dare complain for fear of screwing up the shot they still have at a job. Those who fail would naturally want to appeal the decision, and feeling they have nothing to lose, may conduct themsves less professionally than someone who is still actively in the interview process. Those who fail may not actually be different from those who pass, but are being observed under circumstances that are substantially different.

At any rate, it sounds like there is not a lot of consistency with the post-Hogan timeline. Responses can be anywhere from one day to a week or more. If I'm not mistaken, congratulations (and the interview invitation) come in the form of a phone call; "thanks but no thanks" responses come by email.

I haven't heard of any more phone calls, so it looks like the June interviews have all been contacted. I would expect Phone calls to resume sometime in July or August for the September classes. Good luck to everyone.

Has anyone heard of interviews happening after the few calls went out?
Surely something is brewing up!

The interviews resulting from the May calls are supposed to take place in June.
