You can't bump 800 pilots in a year without secondary bumps. Well, I take that back. With this management team, god knows what stupidity will befall all of us.

There are going to be some really unhappy Jr 737 Capts this fall. Including me. At least I am realistic and know the tsunami is coming.

My guess is that some of the JR guys who bump in, will getting bumped out of the Den 737 left seat pretty quick.

Is the merger move good until 2014, or 2015?

Oops, 2015.

It's 2 years from operational merger date, which I believe was. Sept 2013.

That's what I'm planning on. I'm only 40 from the bottom of EWR 777, so why stay junior when all of the DCA and ORD 777 FO's come in due to their crazy 50 hour 8 and 10 day pairings in their bases, while we have 30 hour 3 and 4 days.

So I'm thinking going to the 787 where I'll be a line holder would be better, plus why not contribute to the bankrupt state of California with my taxes?

Merger move is in the LOA section of the CBA, there's also the one-time "career" move in addition to the paid moves for upgrades.

Forgot about that one. Ya there is a situation where there might be some secondary bumps.

It will depend on how many 757s they will park in Q1 of next year. For the second half of this year they going to park 24 57s and one 67. Thats around 350 pilots if you figure seven crews per plane. Spread that over six months its around sixty a month. How many have bid off since vacancy 14-06? Again I think it all depends on what is bid in the next two bids. So if the numbers are small I would hope they do not do secondary bumps.

The other consideration is what bases see the reductions. Denver is the only base that would immediately see FO's bumping into 737 Capt positions. ORD is next. The could bump hundreds between EWR and IAH without anyone touching 737 Capt.

Yep. But they need people in EWR and IAH. Thats not where the 757 flying is disappearing. It's DEN and ORD where they need to trim some guys. And in DEN, ALL 76T F/Os can hold 737 Capt. But hey, I think 2 DEN 76T FOs just bid out on the latest vacancy snapshot, so there's that.
