Had to kick off a non-rev LAX-EWR two days ago on the 757-300. They wanted to kick off 5, but Capt. talked to load planning. Enroute limited...?
Also, check the blended rates for the 756/737/Airbus, they ARE NOT the same (contrary to popular belief)....

Current CBA/2017, Airbus CA max A320/321 max longevity- 224.05
C2000 Airbus FO max - 158.86
Current/2017 FO max - 153.03
AGAIN, ^^^^^^^ DOS C2000, not what the max was had the contract gone full term, 2003 or 2004, can't remember. In which case;
Airbus CA - 253.99
Airbus FO - 173.48
Sad that C2000 DOS rates are STILL higher than current CBA amendable date rates. 17ish year gap between the two, never mind inflation

Thunder Guppy trash would have to slum it at 226.58 and 154.75. Not sure how those poor guys were gonna afford multiple wives on that.

Just for clarification CAL took delivery of the first 900ER in 2008. The MAX and the NEO were not an option back in 2008. Lcal took delivery of 12 900's and 56 900ER's before the Lual 900ER's started arriving. The Lual order occurred in 2012 and just continued on with the 900ER deliveries and included the MAX order.

Having said that, I've got a lot of time on the 73ER and the problems posted here are way overblown. A couple of years ago I was non-reving on an Airbus from EWR to SFO. Open seat next to me, no worries, when they pull me and some others for a weight issue. Early October winds and CAVU on both ends, so extra fuel wasn't an issue. The Captain did a great job negotiating with dispatch and getting us back on, but I was left wondering WTH, that doesn't happen to any 737.
I've got well over a decade on the 73 and unfortunately will have close to two, if not more, before I'm off it. I've flown and wrenched on other airliners and have no love for the Guppy or need to defend it, I just know the realities of operating it. I believe the pilots here who have flown both the Bus and the Guppy who say the Bus is the better plane from a pilot's perspective. I don't doubt the 321 Neo performs better than the 739 Max. However, we're buying 73s for a reason. Sorry if you feel I'm ranting at you, it was just a convenient place to make my point.

That wasn't a weight restriction necessarily, those seats were more than likely purchased by the freight forwarding companies for the express purpose of leaving them empty to accommodate more freight underneath. I've been going to HKG for ten years and I've never seen that many empty seats.

The 321neo, is losing cargo space in order to place an additional fuel tank...not sure how you can call that a 757 replacement.
The fact is that there is no aircraft out there that did the mission the 757 did as well as it did during its time.
Boeing is looking into a replacement but just said that no replacement would be available until 2025!!!
United has put its bet on the 737, therefore the 737-900ER and Max series will be the aircraft that will fill the 757 gap, do it in a more cost efficient manner and work better within the network of United until a true 757 replacement comes out...
Sorry Boeing haters but you better get ready to use a yoke instead of little toy sticks!!

In the end, just pay me right and I'll fly whatever we buy.
