OK, now that is funny. Nope, no parade, no band but for once a thread not starting out with CAL Scabs this or CAL Scabs that would be nice. Just the fact that some of you are oblivious to some of the superstars who grace our seniority list can be kinda annoying and repetitive.
Don't get me wrong, anyone that wears a battle star gets instant credo from me be they from CAL/UAL/EAL ect.
As for your double furloughees, I get to fly with them daily and I honestly have a lot of respect after all that they've had to endure. Too bad it wasn't just management that threw those guys under the bus as your own Union had a hand in it as well.

No I don't think that alone will save us. But the fundemental us v. them mentality at this company will ensure things never change. You can have the best management team in the world (clearly we don't) and if there is constant division among front line employees, then the operation will continue to suck. If all workgroups show up to work genuinely wanting things to work then they will. I'm out there like everyone else, I see plenty of people who don't care, whether it's flight crew, ramp crew, agents ect. Many people would ask if i blame them after what they've been through. Maybe I dont. But I do think they should go do something else if they are too bitter to show up and do their jobs to the best of their abilities. I don't blame furloughed guys for being ****sed. But it's over and if you show up to work everyday trying to think of new ways to screw United, then it's time to move on IMO. If you can't let SLI go, then figure something else out. If you are still mad UAL merged with CAL or CAL merged with UAL, get over it, or move on. Easy for me to say as a guy who hasn't been around for all of it? Maybe, but I've been in the business world a long time and I know that division amongst employees, whether self induced or not, will never lead to a successful outcome.

@757 There are many views of being thrown under the bus. Wrt loa 25, it is nauseating that our side of the house didn't fight for them. Made even worse when a union official says the furloughees didn't even make his top ten list. We are in agreement on the full time strikers.
@jetblast. You are so way off base I don't even know what to say except that I'm not going to even waste effort on a rebuttal.

Yes I agree it's downright terrifyingly dangerous.
Can you imagine releasing the parking brake all the while having them manually pressed to the floor !!! The horror !!
Your example above indicates that someone started an engine at the gate, again while not being paid. Who friggin does that? Not sure what correlation would go with that but if I'm starting one at the gate, I damn well better be getting paid for it as I won't be doing it unless I am.
Looks like I'll never have the pleasure of flying with Captain Booksmart as I doubt I'll ever transfer to the school bus but you keep up the good work, we're all counting on you !!
Sincerely,
Brakepopper the Underpaid Angry Elf

I believe the incident in question was an APU inop. Hence starting an engine at the gate with the brakes set.
